Students brainstormed together as a class, and then when asked to draft their essay, they were faced with "writer's block".
To overcome this problem, Miss Cruz asked students to go around campus for a few minutes and ask five adults for their opinion on the assigned prompt.
Students gathered their information and returned to class with an abundant amount of examples and details to build their arguments.
While gathering data and engaging with adults around campus, students overcame their writer's block and were able to better structure their ideas.
As students prepare for their English II STAAR on December 5th, teachers continue to find innovative ways to teach and reinforce learning while at the same time steering away from traditional "STAAR drills" in order to avoid burning out these students.
