One of EPISD's Super Science Teachers

Over the summer Memorial Junior High  science teacher Alejandra Martinez completed a six-week internship at the University of Texas Institute of Geophysics, where she had the opportunity to work with other teachers to organize and revise the content of units created as part of the Diversity and Innovation for Sciences Texas Instructional Blueprint project.
Working closely with other Earth science teachers exposed her to new teaching practices and allowed her to build relationships that will last for many years.

LDC Welcomes Students

Learning Development Center Reopened on August 25, 2014

Eagle Pass Independent School District (EPISD) has announced that the Learning Development Center (LDC) reopened their doors on Monday, August 25, 2014 to begin the 2014-2015 school year on the home based campus.
“This is great news for parents and students,” said Mr. Gilberto Gonzalez, EPISD Superintendent of Schools.  “We understand the strain that families have been under with the uncertainty of when the campus would reopen.  Working together with parents, we can help students stay healthy and schools stay open.”

Now that the problem has been resolved, classes opened and friendly faces welcomed eager students on to the home campus.

2014-2015 Eagle Pass Education Foundation Grant Application
Are you a teacher who "thinks outside the book?"  We understand that to help students achieve greater success and engage in creative learning, teachers need exciting projects, upgraded technology, and extra resources.  Crafting the minds of the next great generation may mean going beyond the typical school budget and asking for a little extra help in the classroom.

With the help of the Eagle Pass ISD Education Foundation teachers have the opportunity to take  creative ideas and make them into realities.  Each EPEF grant, allows funding for teachers with bright ways of enhancing the learning environment and inspiring their students through innovation and excitement.  When learning is fun, learning is easy. The Eagle Pass Education Foundation Classroom Grants encourage educators to create innovative and exciting educational programs for their students.

The Eagle Pass Educational Foundation (“EPEF”) is a non-profit organization created to develop and expand educational opportunities for students of the Eagle Pass Independent School District.  One of its principal goals is to identify and fund worthy innovative projects whose costs exceed the limitations of the district’s regular budget.
EPEF will direct it’s funding to single campus and single classroom projects.  General project qualification guidelines;

  1. 1. Projects must enhance and support the instructional program;
  2. Campus projects must be approved by the campus principal;
  3. Project grant requests must be submitted on time

EPEF has elected to limit the number of grant requests that will be accepted from a given campus to three (3).

Please follow the instructions below in order to apply for funding consideration. The process requires that all grant requests be submitted to EPEF by September 26, 2014:

 The following items will not be funded by the foundation:
  1. Personnel stipends/salaries and staff development costs
  2. Capital outlay items (fixtures, furnishings, and equipment) such as computer hardware, cameras, and bookshelves.
  3. Travel costs and lodging (field trips).
  4. Food, candy, drinks or any promotional items (stickers, pencils, pads, erasers, etc.).

 Grant Request Submittal Instructions:
  1. 1. Please download and fill out the EPEF Innovative Teaching Grant Application.   This will be considered as the “official version” of your grant request and submittal. Applications are available on the Eagle Pass I.S.D. website.
  2. Please do not modify the document formatting or try to substitute an “equivalent” document.
  3. Upon completion of the Innovative Teaching Grant Application, please print a hard copy for signature(s) and submit.
  4. Please do not submit any pamphlets, brochures, price lists, photos, or other material with the signed hard copy of your submittal.
  5. Secure the required approval signatures.  Failure to secure the required signatures will be cause for the submittal to be rejected.
  6. Send a hard copy of the grant request application form with the signature page to:
  7.                         Mr. Gilberto Gonzalez, Superintendent of Schools
Eagle Pass I.S.D. District Service Center - Superintendent Office

Faxed transmissions will not be accepted.
Time Table
We will begin accepting project grant applications beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2014
  1. Deadline for the grant application submission is no later than 5:00pm (Central Time), Friday, September 26, 2014.
Extensions of the deadlines will not be considered. Grant Review Committee's decisions are final.  Don’t take a chance – please submit early.

stay informed...stay connected

While one-on-one communication is the best, in our ever growing district it is sometimes difficult. Because we want our parents to stay informed, EPISD has several ways that parents and other interested citizens can stay informed about the successes and challenges of our Eagle Pass school district, as well as news about their children’s schools.

Stay in touch by using any of these tools to stay informed, in addition to email and phone calls:

Twitter posts short messages about important news and events in the District

YouTube includes a variety of informational and promotional videos about EPISD educational programs, schools, staff members, students, challenges, and successes.

Annual Sales Tax Holiday August 8-10

This is just a friendly reminder For most Eagle Pass families in the midst of back to school shopping- the Annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for August 8 through August 10.
Most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 are exempt from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.
