Trick or Treat Mavs

Trick or Treat! 
C. C. Winn Seniors in Mrs. Mercer’s English IV classes received a sweet treat on Halloween. 
The students were pleasantly surprised when they were rewarded for all their hard work  and dedication.

Winn Door Decoration Contest

C. C. Winn High School Counseling Department hosted a door decorating contest to promote awareness against bullying on October 20th. 
The participants had one week to decorate their doors with the theme: Mavericks Stand Together Against Bullying
The contest took place through Facebook and was based on the amount of likes the doors received. 
Winn's counseling department would like to thank all those who took the time to vote.

Roadrunners Create Halloween Slime

Ms. Laura Lopez' 1st grade class at Rosita Valley Elementary had fun making Halloween slime during their science class. 
The Roadrunners transformed his slime into witches goo, vampire blood, or monster snot. 
How spooky and kooky!

Cougar Door Decoration Winners

On Halloween, Sam Houston announced the classroom winners for the door decoration contest.
The classes were tasked to celebrate the Drug Free theme.

C.C.Winn Library Costume Contest

C.C. Winn Library hosted their 2nd Annual Costume Contest in which students and staff were invited to dress up as a literary character. 
Special thanks goes to Mrs. Emily Landin, school librarian, for putting on this contest. 
This is the second year she hosts the contest and it only gets better!

MJH Homecoming Fever Begins

Dress up days and campaigning at Memorial Junior High for Homecoming kicked off this week, October 30th - November 3rd. 
Vying for Homecoming King and Queen are Football Representatives are Javier Rodriguez and Demi Camarillo.

Bobcats Congratulate Custodians

Henry B. Gonzalez would like to CONGRATULATE their hard working custodians for receiving the Campus of the Month Award for September.  
The Bobcats would like to thank them for keeping the campus nice and clean.

Winn's Newest Maverick

C.C.Winn High School would like to welcome their newest member to the Winn family, Mr. Lino Melchor. 
Mr. Melchor is one of two Micro Computer Technicians and is now based at C.C.Winn.
Winn is happy to have their newest trouble shooter!

Winn Drama Visits Ray Darr

Monday, October 30th, Mr. Adolfo Flores’s Drama class journeyed to Ray Darr to participate in story time with the students.
What made this really special was that students from Winn read each grade level their very own original stories.
It was great for the students to see the older Mavs share their own creations!

RVLA Halloween Parade

Students at RVLA had a great time displaying their awesome costumes during the Halloween Parade on October 31st! 
Staff, Students, siblings and Parents alike joined in the fun!
It was spooktacular all around!


Liberty Halloween Parade

Liberty Elementary held their annual Halloween Parade on October 31st.
The students had tremendous costumes!

Winn Zombie Scholarship

Mrs. Camarillo classes at CC Winn decided to dress as zombies while presenting their Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship Essay they have been working on prior to Halloween. 
Students in class went beyond the norm of presenting and included illustrations.  
This scholarship is offered through Unigo and it awards $2000 to the most creative and outstanding 250 word essay over the topic: Zombie Apocalypse. 
The winner will be notified by email or phone on or around January 31, 2018
Mrs. Camarillo wishes all her students good luck and feels confident that her students' writing skills will make them contenders for this scholarship. 



RVLA Pumpkin Decorating Contest

RVLA recently held their annual parent/child pumpkin decorating contest.  
Parent and child decorate a silhouette of a pumpkin given to them, thus allowing them to bond and create ​
​everlasting memories.
 U.S. Border Patrol judged the pumpkins and winners were announced during the Halloween Costume Parade. Parents and children were extremely ​anxious to hear the results! 
A great big thanks to all that participated!

Darr Red Ribbon Bulletin Board Contest

On Monday, October 30th, Ray Darr Elementary's Drug Free Bulletin Board contest came to a close.
The competition was fierce and ultimately the top 3 were announced!

Kennedy Hall Halloween Parade

October 31st, Kennedy Hall celebrated their annual Halloween Costume parade and the costumes were out of this world!
A special thanks to all the parents who made the parade possible with their creativity!
The students were also able to do some early Trick or Treating within the school.

Graves Halloween Parade

Tuesday, October 31st, Graves Elementary held their annual Halloween Costume Parade.
There was everything from sailors to unicorns and boy.was the creativity there!

RVLA Life Skills Fall Fest

October 30th was a great day for fun! 
Mr. Melendrez' RVLA Little Giants Life Skills Classroom celebrated fall with fun and exciting games such as pumpkin carving, pumpkin throwing, a delightful cupcake walk and students got to create their own trail mix!  
To culminate the day,the students were treated to delicious pizza, punch and ice cream! 
Learning is always fun in Mr. Melendrez' Class!

Something's Brewing at Rosita Valley

On Halloween, the students in Mrs. Heredia's 2nd grade class at Rosita Valley were treated to a witchy surprise!
To ring in Halloween, the Roadrunners conjured up some witches brew during their science class.
