EAGLE PASS FFA PUSHES FORWARD

Despite the pandemic and asynchronous education, FFA has been going full steam ahead and competing. This spring we have been competing in many Livestock Shows and Career Development Events, and we are heading to speaking events, and running for office.  

The following are the competitions and their rankings and who has been competing in each.



Milk Quality- Placed 1st at District, 2nd  at Area, and traveled to Stephenville to compete at Tarleton University for State contest.

-Charles Garrett Purcell, Nina Mata, Eddie Gonzalez, & Jessica Sebastian


Farm Business Management-  Placed 1st  at District , 2nd at Area, and competed at state

Katherine Seturino 3rd at Area,  Jesus Mata, Charles Garrett Purcell, and  Jessica Sebastian


Wildlife- 

On April 15 Eagle Pass FFA traveled to Sinton to compete at the Region III Wildlife Contest. Two teams competed from Eagle Pass and advanced to state. They traveled to Nacogdoches to compete at the Texas State Wildlife Contest on April 20th. On the way home from contest, they toured Texas A&M College Station.  FFA Team (Charles Garrett  Purcell, Jessica Sebastian, & Hanna Hardt Perez) 

4-H Team(Brylyn Wall, Ahahi Molina, Jimena Molina)

Dairy Cattle-Placed 2nd at District , 3rd at Area, and traveled to Stephenville to compete at Tarleton University for State contest.

-Jessica Sebastian, Charles Garrett Purcell, Nina Mata, Cassidy Garcia, and Hanna Hardt.


Land- Placed 1st at District, 3rd at Area, and traveled to Stephenville to compete at Tarleton University for State contest.

-Rene Rodriguez, Paul De la Garza, and Maya Martinez


Range-  Placed 4th at District and Area, and traveled to Stephenville to compete at Tarleton University for State contest.

-Jesus Mata, Bobby Martinez, Marisol Gonzalez, and Isabella De la Garza


Entomology - competed at District and Area

-Samantha Molina, Hanna Hardt, and Isabella De la Garza


Poultry- competed at District and Area

 -Remberto Samaniego, Paul De la Garza, and Kaylee Perez


Livestock-competed at District and Area

-Brylyn Wall, Janel Ramos, Anahi Molina, Jimena Molina, and Art Molina


Vet Science- Placed 3rd  at District , and competed at Area

-Janna Dovalina, Rebecca Sebastian, and Natalia Vallejo

Tigers celebrated Earth Day

 Thursday, April 22nd, Graves Elementary along with EPISD schools, celebrated Earth Day.

 Graves Principal Mrs. V. Soto Gonzalez & her Tiger staff wore green to school and encouraged everyone to celebrate the importance of taking care of our Earth!

HBG Perfect Attendance Awards

 On April 28, 2021 at Henry B. Gonzalez prizes were awarded to the Perfect Attendance students. 

To keep safety on mind this event was held curbside for the HBG students.

EAGLE PASS FFA RANGE PLANT TEAM CONQUERS STATE

 

Eagle Pass FFA is proud to announce that the Range Plant Identification team are State Champions. 

They competed at the State FFA competition held at Texas Tech in Lubbock on Saturday April 24, 2021 and won.

Jessica Sebastian has the high point individual in the state, and close behind were Katherine Seturino in 3rd, Hanna Hardt in 4th , and Garrett Purcell with  5th high individual in the state. 

This championship has been years in the making; the last 6 years or so, the students have been working hard at learning how to identify Texas range plants through lots of studying and practice, attending invitational competitions, even attending summer workshops. 

Eagle Pass FFA is so proud that their hard work and dedication has finally paid off.

 Eagle Pass High School's UIL Academics team, coaches, and coordinators would like to congratulate and commend UIL Competitor Bryana Trejo.   

Through commitment, determination and hard work, Bryana placed first in Ready Writing at Regionals and will advance to the State Competition!

 The Mexican Consulate would like to announce a drawing contest for children ages 6-14, XXV Children Drawing Contest 2021 “Este es mi Mexico".

2021 Wildlife Contest

April 15th,  Eagle Pass FFA traveled to Sinton to compete at the Region III Wildlife Contest. 

Two teams competed from Eagle Pass and placed 1st and 2nd place. 

They will travel to Nacogdoches to compete at the Texas State Wildlife Contest on April 20th.

 The Eagle Pass Superintendent's Advisory Council invites all of EPISD to join them on their mission to make EPISD a greener and safer place to be! 

April 19th - 23rd, EPISD will celebrate Earth Week; a week long celebration to bring awareness over the dangers of climate change, food waste, and pollution. Please do your part and participate in this inspiring event!

National Library Week at HBG

On April 6, 2021 at Henry B. Gonzalez, Principal, Ms. C. Garcia and staff presented Mrs. E. Gonzalez with an outdoor sporting chair along with a cooler filled with goodies and several other gifts. 

This was due to celebrate National Library Week. 

Mrs. E. Gonzalez is always there for the student's and staff needs.

Eagle Pass High School's Music Department is hard at work to continue their streak of excellence. 

EPHS Color Guard for instance continues to work on their winter guard show Entitled "Yes We Can" and the Mighty Eagle Band has begun working on their UIL music program.

Winn Golf Conquers District


 Congratulations are in order for CC Winn High School's Girls' Golf Team!

 The ladies took the green and came out victorious and snatched up the District Runner-Up Title!

This win cemented their bid to Regionals.
