EPISD PD Dept Spreads Cheer

The Eagle Pass ISD Police Department officers and security were treated to a department luncheon on Thursday Dec. 19, 2019.  
Interim Chief Ynosencio would like to thank all officers who were able to attend, school administrators and school board for taking the time to join us. 
He would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Mr. Garcia Food Service Director and the cafeteria personnel for providing a delicious meal and drinks.  
Everything was well coordinated and we had a great time!
On behalf of EPISD Police Department may everyone have a great holiday and a prosperous new year!

Darr Has a Special Visitor

Thursday Dec. 12 SME 2nd Grader Jayden L. Valdez a student from Mrs. Villarreal was excited to take home their class pet for the day.
Jayden had to write about the adventure that Ellie the Elephant had and was about to share with his classmates the following day.

December Librarian Award

On Friday December 13th Graves Librarian Mrs. A. Libson announced her December Librarian Award winner. 

This student always goes on and beyond, he is very helpful in the library as well as in his classroom, always a helping hand to his teacher. He helps Mrs. Salinas in the computer lab with distribution of chrome books. Exhibits wonderful traits. Every time you see Him he greets you with a big smile! Congratulations goes to Jacobo Frausto 6th grader in Ms. C. McBride's class.

SME Christmas Breakfast

On Dec. 6th SME kicked off their yearly tradition with breakfast.
The 1st group treated the staff with some delicious homemade breakfast, from beacon and eggs, to potato and eggs, chorizo and beans,

Mrs. De Hoyos would like to congratulate Isaac De Los Angeles for being chosen Student of the Month for December at Darr. 
Isaac is a hard worker and attends school every day.
 He also helps his classmates by tutoring them in math when a concept is not understood.
 He also plays basketball for the city team Mavs!

On Monday, December 16, 2019, Chrysta S. Schuessler, EPHS senior and library aide, was recognized as Library Assistant of the Month. Chrysta is very generous and helpful in the library. 
She volunteers in the library before her school day starts. She is efficient and polite.
 For this and many reasons more, Chrysta S. Schuessler is recognized with a small token of appreciation by the library staff.

Gingerbread Man

After reading and discussing "The Gingerbread Man" book, Ms. Ramos' class at Kennedy Hall got a little bit crafty and used their creativity to decorate their gingerbread cookies. 
Kids were able to retell the story, to have fun, and enjoy a delicious cookie.

SME Allstar of the Month

Miner Nation would like to Congratulate 5th grade student Adalyn Sanchez for being awarded Star of the Month December 2019.
Adalyn was presented with an Award and Read a Thank You letter on December 3rd during the City Council Meeting.

Adalyn, is an extraordinary student who goes above and beyond and gives it a 110% everyday. She's a great leader around school and outside of school.

Black-Out Revise

Ms. Ochoa and Ms. Torres 4th grade classroom's had a Blackout Revise and Edit party at Sam Houston. The students had a blast and enjoyed revising and editing but ant the same time they had fun while they learned.

Midnight In Transylvania Practice

The EPHS Indoor Percussion Studio held practice after school on December 13, 2019. The group worked on perfecting their 2020 Indoor Competition piece "Midnight in Transylvania". The group is under the direction of band director Mr. Victor Posada.

UIL pre-meet celebration

On Friday Dec. 13th, Graves Elementary held a small gathering for their UIL students to celebrate all their hard work during practice. 
The Tigers were treated to a hot dog meal and treat bags. 
Mrs. Soto-Gonzalez, Mr. De La Cruz, the UIL coordinators and all the coaches want to express how proud they are of all the hard work and hours of practice these students have put in.

MJH UIL Academics Blanket Drive

MJH UIL Academics held a blanket, socks, and slippers drive for the Iron Pigs Club of Eagle Pass. They will be donating these items to the elderly in our community.

On Friday, December 13th at Graves Elementary the students in Mrs. Benavides' 3rd class read the passage a Christmas in Hawaii!

Jump Rope Relays

Students at Ray H. Darr refined their jump rope skills during Coach Mata's P.E. class.
 They worked on their locomotor skills as well as their cardiovascular endurance.
