EPISD Senior Spotlight

Eagle Pass Independent School District will begin honoring Seniors that have gone above and beyond scholastically.
This month's Senior Spotlight recipient is Eagle Pass High School student, Jacob Wright.
Jacob has scored in the 99th percentile in his SAT with a score of 1570!
He is also currently captain of EPHS Varsity Tennis, president of the National Honor Society & Cinematography Club, Superintendent Advisory Council member, and Angels of Hope member.
Jacob is going to spend his Senior year continuing in his academic pursuits and deciding what university to go to.
Brown, Rice, and Stanford are his top 3 choices thus far!
Good luck Jacob and congratulations on all your terrific achievements!

Bilingual Summer Program Ends with Bang

Close to 100 students attended the Bilingual Language Acquisition Summer Program this year.
Teachers, Maria Chacon, Jaclyn Jimenez, Jessica Ramon, Cynthia Trevino, Sandra Salinas, Virginia Aguirre prepared a program for parents to attend on Wednesday, June 27th. Program Supervisor, Virginia Ainslie and Bilingual Director, Gilberto Sanchez were pleased with the success of the summer program.
The students enjoyed singing and acting out a play from the poem Tikiri, Tikiri, Tikiri, TAS composed by Guadalupe Garcia McCall which was inspired by an art piece from Jose Guadalupe Posada at the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York.

Trio Trailblazers Prepare for Battle

The Trio Trailblazers are a group of honors students from Eagle Pass School and CC Winn who are selected to compete in a college research competition with UTSA through their Trio program.
The students had 8 days to collect and analyze their research for the Annual UTSA Trio Research Symposium on July 20th.
They will be competing against groups from Bracketville, Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, Uvalde, and San Antonio.
The Trailblazers are looking to repeat their clean 1st - 3rd place sweep!
1st place is a terrific $500 UTSA Scholarship!

EPISD Board Trustees Support GT Program

The Summer GT Program would like to thank Board Trustees Mr. Rudy Bowles, Mr. Jorge Barrera, and Mr. Christopher Hiller for all their support on Wednesday, June 27th at their Summer GT Expo.
Mr. Bowles, Mr. Barrera and Mr. Hiller were treated to great demonstrations from all grade levels, especially the 4th grade Robotics presentation.
Students maneuvered their robots through a great obstacle course!
Way to go GT!
