Eagle Pass High School Tennis Team 

The Eagle Pass High School Tennis team recently competed at 29-6A District TennisTournament last week in Laredo, Texas.
Overall both Boys and Girls team placed 3rd.

Individually, Kevin Pua and Emily Chavarria placed 1st in Mixed Doubles, Leslie Riojas and Alejandra Rueda were runners up in Girls Doubles. Eivan Ramirez finished 3rd in Boys Singles and Valeria Romero finished 3rd in Girls Singles.

Junior Varsity and Varsity Bands Earn 1st Division Trophy

The Memorial Jr would like to congratulate both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Bands for earning a first division sweepstakes trophy at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest which was held at the Eagle Pass Fine Arts Auditorium.

Each Band received a 1st division superior rating from each of the six sight reading judges. This is the 3rd consecutive sweepstakes award for the Junior Varsity band and the 9th consecutive sweepstakes award for the varsity band.

This is the longest current streak for our classification in this contest site, and it is the longest active streak in Eagle Pass.

We would like to Thank the Staff and the administration for all their support, and we would especially like to thank Ms. Sumpter for attending the contest and for supporting the band program year after year.

C.C. Winn Winterguard Closes another Successful Season

Lead by Senior Captain, Stephanie Treviño, C.C. Winn Winterguard closes yet another successful season. Depicting a story about unrequited love, the Striking Silver Guard received several awards with their 2016 Winterguard show “Turn to Stone”.

 

The team traveled to Madison High School on Februrary 20 to participate in the Festival of Colors where they received 3^rd Place in the Scholastic Regional A Division. Then on March 12 the guard traveled to Edinburg North High School and competed against 18 other schools receiving an overall 1^st place.

 

And to close the season, on Saturday, April 2^nd, C.C. Winn Winterguard traveled all the way to Pharr, Tx to compete in the Texas Educational Colorguard Association (TECA) State Championships - South Zone. The team brought home an honorable 2nd Place. During this competition, Captain Stephanie Treviño received a $1,000 Merit Scholarship from TECA.

C.C. Winn took 29-5A 1st Place Sweepstakes

Throughout the Spring the C.C. Winn Academic Team attended three Invitational Meets: United South High School Invitational Meet and came in 3^rd Place Sweepstakes, Boerne Hill Country Meet and came in 3^rd Place Sweepstakes, and John Jay Academic Round-Up Invitational Meet and came in to win 2nd Place Sweepstakes.

This past Saturday, April 2^nd, the C.C. Winn UIL Academic Team wrapped up their UIL academic season. The UIL Academic team travelled to Laredo Martin to compete in the 29-5A UIL District Academic Meet. The C.C. Winn UIL Academic Team, for the SECOND year in a row, are walking away with the title of District Champions… C.C. Winn took 29-5A 1^st Place Sweepstakes!  Advancing to Regionals are 23 extremely proud students who will represent our school on April 22^nd at UTSA.

Happy Autism Awareness Month!

Eagle Pass HEROES a non-profit agency that has a mission to help provide resources and educational support for children with special needs in Maverick County. In partnership with EPISD, Eagle Pass HEROES will be hosting a free autism training for parents on 4/19/16.  The training is for parents with children on the autism spectrum and their child needs to be attending EPISD school. There is limited seating so please encourage parents to register to reserve their spot as soon as possible.

Any Baby Can is an agency from San Antonio that provides a vast amount of training, support, and resources for families with individuals on the autism spectrum.  I'll also be attaching Any Baby Can resource guide for resources as well.   

 

As Mr. Gonzalez stated at our 2016 Special Olympics games, "when you are given a chance you can do extraordinary things."  Let's make this event extraordinary for our amazing parents.

Free Autism Parent Training

EPHS Film "Vindicate" is a HIT

Congratulations to the Eagle Pass High School Media Tech program on their huge success this past weekend.  
Director Moses Molina and screenwriter Jesus Garcia won 1st place in SWTJC’s Student Life Short Film Challenge. Both students, Moses and Jesus worked endlessly during their spring break vacation filming and editing the movie. They enlisted help from their peers, such as Jennifer Snyder, Gummy Gonzalez, Abraham Molina, and Kendra Baumer.
Eagle Pass High School teacher Tim Leath also starred in the film. Their Film Vindicate was a hit both at the collegiate competition and on the web. Moses and Jesus both are seniors at the EPHS and are in the final class of the Career & Technology Education’s Audio Video program.
