Liberty Elementary Raises its Blue Ribbon Flag

On Monday, December 8, Mayor Ramsey English Cantu along with city and school board officials, visited Liberty Elementary School for a ceremony to raise the Blue Ribbon Flag.  Liberty Elementary School recently received the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Education in Washington D.C. and, since then, it has been a year of celebration for the students, faculty and staff. Liberty Elementary, accepted a National Blue Ribbon Award at a ceremony this past November hosted by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan for the winners.

The award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or for their progress toward significantly improving student academic achievement levels. Receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon any school, public or private. It’s a reflection of the extraordinary professional educators  who  are  at Liberty Elementary.

Congratulations to their Principal Mrs. Barcena, the students and entire staff of Liberty Elementary on their commitment to excellence!
