EPISD Launches Mobile App

The Eagle Pass Independent School District is proud to announce that it has launched a district mobile application.  The official mobile app was designed to enable parents, staff, students and the broader community to stay informed and up-to-date on important issues, information and activities within the school community.  The free app, which proudly displays the EPISD logo, mascot, colors and content, can be downloaded for Apple iOS and Android.   The app was developed to provide easy, direct access to the District’s most sought-after information in the most convenient format—the user’s mobile device.

Developed in partnership with SchoolMessenger, the leading provider of communication solutions for education, the new app will provide families with 24/7/365 access to calendars, lunch menus, directories, events, sports schedules and results and more.  New information feeds will continue to be made available in the app over the coming school year.

The EPISD app offers the ability to easily access information that is frequently visited on the school district’s website.  Highly secure and flexible, the school’s new app is built on a communication platform that permits the district to manage and share content easily.  Key features include:

·    District and school news

·   “Push” notifications for the District/school to send out instant alerts to   the user’s mobile device

·     Sports schedules

·     Cafeteria menus

·     Calendar information for schools and District events, including the ability to add events from school calendars to the user’s device calendar

·     School and District directories

·     Links to the District’s Twitter and YouTube sites

The district first wanted to develop an app to make the resources available to parents and students who might not have Internet access at home but do have a smartphone. Although they could access the district's website from their smartphone browser, the app cuts out a step and provides the information faster and smoother.

While the app can be downloaded from iTunes or Google Play stores at this time, the District is promoting January 24, 2015, as the official launch day.  The app will be promoted at the Title I Annual Parent Conference on Saturday, January 24, 2015 and on the District’s website and social media pages.
