Congratulations to Mrs. Ruth Jimenez: December Teacher of the Month

Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community.  The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
December's Teacher of the Month is none other than Rosita Valley Elementary's Ruth Jimenez. For the past 18 years, dedication and commitment have been the qualities of Mrs. Ruth Jimenez. She has been a pivotal component to the success and student achievement at Rosita Valley Elementary. Mrs. Jimenez also has dedicated her time in establishing a positive rapport between the community and school district.
Early in her career, Mrs. Jimenez was nominated and ultimately featured on Univision's Salon de Semana. This was news that echoed around the district because it is always exciting when one of the our teachers are featured on a major news affiliate. Jimenez is also very active in our district as she has served as a Science Department presenter at the annual EPISD Parent Conference and mentors many 1st year teachers. New and veteran teachers alike learn so much from her as she inspires them with her great enthusiasm and strong passion for student academic growth. Mrs. Jimenez has played a vital role in helping, not only her 5th grade team but Rosita Valley as a whole, improve the state assessment scores. She is also instrumental to Roadrunner UIL as the Writing Coach. It is never rare to see Mrs. Jimenez putting in extra time before and after school to make sure her lessons and materials are challenging for the students.
Most recently, Mrs. Jimenez received a grant through the Education Foundation, which helped with the purchase of large telescopes that have played roles at the campus' Science and Math Nights. Never one to rest on her laurels, Mrs. Jimenez received a 2nd grant this year to purchase Scholastic Magazines for each student in 5th grade. This allows the students to read all about the latest topics in math, science, reading, and social studies. Mrs. Jimenez was also one of 42 other educators selected from a pool of 300 nationwide teachers to attend Texas A&M's Geology Campy this summer. She invested 18 days of her vacation to grow professionally and acquire skills that have been implemented in various Roadrunners classrooms to better meet the students' needs.
Mrs. Jimenez is not only an inspiring teacher, but a role-model parent as well. She's an active EPHS Band Booster member and Cub Scout Den Leader! Mrs. Jimenez is the epitome of a well-rounded, exemplary educator that our district is fortunate to have. Fore these reasons and more, Mrs. Jimenez is Teacher of the Month.
A segment will appear on iVision throughout the month of December detailing many more accomplishments of Mrs. Jimenez.  This month she will also appear on community media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout December 2017.  A teacher will be selected each month through May 2018 for a total of eight (8) honorees.  The “Teacher of the Month” will be chosen based on educational achievements in the classroom, community contributions and innovative programs and techniques used by the teacher. The “Teacher of the Month” will receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured on iVision, local media news, news publications and radio broadcasting.  Additionally, each “Teacher of the Month” will receive donations from local businesses.

Each T.O.M is receiving a “V.I.T (Very Important Teacher) Parking Pass”, a jean voucher for a month, 20 free meals at the Campus CafĂ©, and Class Cash to purchase class room supplies. Additionally, each “Teacher of the Month” will receive donations from local businesses.  Thank You Ancira Ford–Eagle Pass, Ashley Furniture, Peter Piper Pizza, and Stat Emergency.
