Mrs. I. Salinas’ English II classes at CC Winn began their poetry unit on Monday, October 15th.
One of the poems that really resonated with the students was “We Wear the Mask” by Paul Laurence Dunbar.
The poem is about how people wear masks to hide from the world what they are feeling inside and who they truly are.
Mr. Dunbar wrote the poem to reflect the plight of African Americans in the United States during slavery times.
Wednesday, October 17th, the students created a two-sided mask to show their outward and inward appearance.
They wrote a reflection to explain what their individual masks represented.
The students did an outstanding job on their masks.
