GeoForce is an outreach program from the University of Texas at Austin that hopes to get students interested in the earth sciences. this program rewards outstanding 8th through 12th grade students from select South Texas and Houston schools. Students who are selected commit to participate in week-long summer academies that allow students to see the many geological wonders of the United States.  Over the next four years, these students will have the opportunity to travel to Florida, Utah and Arizona, Washington and Oregon, and Virginia and Washington D.C.  Students from 18 school districts in Texas are eligible to apply for the program, but they must meet strict requirements to be selected.

The following Memorial Junior High students were selected for the GeoForce outreach program:

These students who were admitted into the program are given the opportunity to travel around Texas and throughout the country, meet new and inspiring people, and learn about geology and about the career paths in the geosciences.
