Congratulations to Mr. Ramon Morin: October Teacher of the Month

Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community.  The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.

When one thinks of "Teacher of the Month", different images come to mind; super active beings, dedicated educators grading until the wee hours, student goodie bags being made, lesson prep, and beautifully decorated classrooms. Ramon Morin is a teacher who embodies all of the above and more. He is a teacher at Eagle Pass High School and a very proud member of the English Department. Mr. Morin embodies the true spirit of an educator. When one sees him walking down the hall in his burnt orange Eagle jacket, one envisions a teacher with a super cape flying by! He is a true definition of "Teacher of the Month". He truly stands for pride, education, patience, and most of all love. Love for students, love for education, love for English, and love for Eagle Pass High School.
Mr. Morin leads the PLC meetings for English II, and is an incredible mentor to the new staff that arrives at EPHS. So many of his fellow teachers have been trained by him because they were under his direction while student-teaching. He is always willing to take a new teacher under his wing, show them the ropes, and help guide them. Mr. Morin is forever trying to update his teachings in order to stay in the groove with teenagers. He is an unselfish teacher who is willing to spread all his magic educator sprinkles in order to make his department a greater one.
What makes Mr. Morin an outstanding teacher is the fact that he makes all content realistic. He knows his subject content like the back of his hand and is able to manipulate learning into fun. Many times students are not interested in learning or reading stories that they feel have no relevance, but when he makes a connection to their personal life and makes it real to each and every student, he scores a TOUCHDOWN! Mr. Morin makes learning fun and always has a sense of humor that brings a smile to every students' face.
Many students look up to him as a father figure, counselor, coach and friend. His leadership skills do not end at 4:10, but continue to the evening hours on the practice field.
Coach Morin has dedicated his time to coaching track and field for years and has implemented his tough but fair discipline skills with his shot-put athletes. The program, under his direction, has gone so well that hes has had athletes make it to State. He also volunteers at the elementary level with the volleyball program. Mr. Morin has high expectations and he holds his students and athletes to an elevated level so that they can acheive greatness in not just his classroom but also their everyday lives.

A segment will appear on iVision throughout the month of October detailing many more accomplishments of Mr. Morin.  This month he will also appear on community media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout October 2016.
Each T.O.M is receiving a “V.I.T (Very Important Teacher) Parking Pass”, a jean voucher for a month, 20 free meals at the Campus CafĂ©, and Class Cash to purchase class room supplies. Additionally, each “Teacher of the Month” will receive donations from local businesses, Ancira Ford–Eagle Pass, Usborne Books, and Chili's Restaurant.
