Eagle Pass High School hosted its first UIL Academic Invitational Meet in over 20 years on January 19th-20th.
The entire EPHS UIL team, including coaches, students, and administrators, was on hand to greet the over 450 visitors that were on campus.
Some of the schools that participated were United H.S., United South H.S., Alexander H.S., and LBJ H.S. from Laredo.
They also had Carrizon Springs H.S., Del Rio H.S., Cotulla H.S., and our very own C.C.Winn High School.
"We are thrilled that EPHS has been given this opportunity to showcase our award winning school this year. This invitational is our first UIL event and it will be followed by the 29-6A District UIL Cross-Examination Meet which will be held this coming Friday and Saturday February 2 & 3. We are also hosting the 29-6A District One-Act-Play Contest which will take place on March 6 & 7 at the SAC Fine Arts Auditorium," stated EPHS UIL Assistant Coordinator Dolores Rodriguez.
"Hosting the UIL invitational gives us the opportunity to practice and iron out any wrinkles so that our district meet runs smoothly," she added. "The District UIL Academic Meet will take place on Friday and Saturday March 23 & 24."
"I am very greatful for all the support that we received from everyone at EPHS. It was very emotional to see everyone come together to help us make this a very successful event," stated UIL Coordinator Ray Marquez.
Many thanks and appreciation to EPHS Student Council, ROTC, NHS, and the UIL competitors, as well as all the coaches who hosted their individual events, the teachers who loaned their rooms, clerks, security officers, custodians and adminstrators.
Without them this event would not have been possible!
