Congratulations to Mrs.Brenda Gonzalez: February Teacher of the Month

Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community.  The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Mrs. Brenda Gonzalez is a true reflection of leadership and success. She is a committed 5th grade teacher dedicated to campus-wide achievement and recognition. Throughout the years, she has empowered San Luis staff to higher learning and teaching strategies to ensure student success.
She is not only limited to sharing with her own campus; Mrs. Gonzalez has trained 6th grade teachers at Perfecto Mancha on Quizdom and Measuring Up, as well as Sam Houston 4th grade teachers on the best practice methods for reading. At her home campus, San Luis, she represents the entire grade level as chairperson and continues training her co-workers on a weekly basis. Mrs. Gonzalez works hard to keep materials up to date, work on student interactive lesson plans, and create various student centers that concentrate on setting student goals in both inside and outside the classroom.
Mrs. Gonzalez' day does not end when the bell rings. She works before and after school for the tutorial program, coaches UIL Ready Writing, and remains dedicated to her on-going reading groups. All her work has not gone unnoticed as her STAAR results have consistently increased and she is frequently sought out by college students who want to observe her innovative teaching style. Mrs. Gonzalez goes well beyond her regular classroom duties by providing training to all San Luis teachers on technology and working as a mentor for newly hired teachers.
Mrs. Brenda Gonzalez is truly an exceptional teacher and her methods are remarkable. She is an example of "True leadership, practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in her actions."

Each T.O.M is receiving a “V.I.T (Very Important Teacher) Parking Pass”, a jean voucher for a month, 20 free meals at the Campus CafĂ©, and Class Cash to purchase class room supplies.
