O CHEMIStree, O CHEMIStree

O CHEMIStree, o CHEMIStree
How lovely are thy elements
O CHEMIStree, o CHEMIStree
How lovely are thy elements

Chemistry is all about understanding the Periodic Table of Elements.

As a review to ensure students’ mastery of the topic, Mrs. Martinez combined the newly acquired knowledge  on bonding and periodic table to implement an activity of merriest of spirits and created their own chemis-tree!

After completing their unit on bonding, each student chose an element of the Periodic Table to research.

Friday, November 30th, they proceeded to complete the information on the back of a notecard with the properties of the element, uses, and compounds formed by their element of choice.
In addition, they illustrated bonding with 4 of the compounds.
In the front of their notecard, they wrote down the information of the element as it appears on the periodic table.
The notecards used to write the information of each element from the periodic table were decorated and arranged to form a tree.
In order to add bling to their educational tree,  students created a Bohr model of their element to use as the Chemis-Tree decorations.

Through this activity, not only did students reinforce their learning on bonding and ensured mastery of the periodic table, they also beautified their classroom with their beautiful Chemis-Tree.

Let us all remember
What the Periodic Table stands for
With our teacher and classmates and everyone around
The real and true meaning of our Chemis-Tree...

Mrs. Martinez’s Chemistry classes wish everyone a great month of December! Go Mavericks!
