EPISD STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE SOCCER FINALS

 Congratulations to the Dragons FC team Divisions U14 and U12 for advancing from South Texas Youth Soccer League regionals to STATE FINALS in Houston, TX.  

EPISD students district-wide participate in both teams.

EAGLE PASS FFA PLACES AT STATE

 


This November, Eagle Pass FFA students from CC Winn HS and EPHS competed in the Leadership development events from the district, area, and state level. At Each level, only the 1st and 2nd place advance to the next level. Eagle Pass FFA is proud to announce the following teams that competed at the district level: 

  • Junior Chapter Conducting. In this contest teams conduct a mock chapter meeting to demonstrate knowledge of basic parliamentary law and the use of correct parliamentary procedures. This team placed 9th at State!

    • Team members were: Trevor Rodriguez, Tyler Rodriguez, Jesus Mambo Adan, Sophia Rodriguez, Homer Villarreal, Marichel Hernandez

  • Senior Chapter Conducting. This is the same contest as the previous, however, at an advanced level. Placed 2nd at District and 4th at Area.

    • Team members were: Jessica Sebastian, Charles Garrett Purcell, Eduardo Gonzalez, Felix Samaniego, Jesus Mata, Ivan Rodriguez, Marisol Gonzalez

  • Quiz.  In this contest students take an exam testing knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure and FFA Knowledge including history, facts, business structure, leadership and programs. The Senior level competition tests the team members' understanding of the FFA, Agriculture education, Current events, and parliamentary procedure. 

    • The Freshmen’s team advanced to area and placed 3rd.

    • The Senior’s team placed in the 24 at state. 


  • Agriculture Advocacy.  This contest is designed to inform the general public and consumers about the importance of the agriculture industry and how agriculture impacts human lives. Placed 2nd at District and 3rd at Area.

    • Team members were: Brylyn Wall, Fernanda Gutierrez, Lorelei Gonzalez, Alyson Morales


  • Agriculture Issues forum. In this contest students research and analyze a current agriculture issue, create a portfolio and also develop and deliver a presentation that stresses both pros and cons of their selected issue. Placed 2nd at District and competed at area. 

    • Team members were:  Anahi Molina, Jimena Molina, Helena Gonzalez, Makayla Reyes, Rebecca Sebastian, Gabriel Leija, Miranda Ramirez 

  • Agriculture Skills Demonstration.  In this contest members perform an actual demonstration of an agricultural skill including anything in the Agricultural Science and Technology Curriculum using effective public speaking and communication methods.  The topic for this team was Artificial Insemination of Cattle. 

    • Both Junior and Senior level teams competed. Both teams placed 2nd at District and competed at Area.

    • Freshmen Team members were: Kevin Ortiz, Austin Perez, Jacqueline Ramirez, Lynsey Rodriguez

    • Senior Team members were: CJ Ruiz, Alex Guerrero, Albino Perez, Rene Longoria, Tayler Gloria, Diego Carrazco

  • Public Relations.  In this contest a team of 4 FFA members develops and presents a 5-8 minute program to inform a specified target audience regarding the Texas FFA and what it represents. Placed 1st at District and competed at area.

    • Team members were: Isabella de la Garza, Jacqueline Wright, and Madelline Nava


  • FFA Broadcasting.  In this contest a team of 3 members presents an informative radio program covering 1 or more agricultural subjects that is current in nature and local in content. 

    • the Freshmen team placed 3rd and consisted of Carilyn Cardenas, Britzel Villasenor, Sadie Smith

    •  The senior team placed 6th and consisted of Sierah Flores, Valerie Gomez, Marcela Serantes

  • Senior creed speaking.  In this contest a member presents the FFA creed from memory and answers questions about its meaning and purpose. Tayler Gloria placed 7th at District.

The teams did an outstanding job at the area level bringing home 3 banners. The Agriculture Advocacy team placed 3rd. The Junior chapter Conducting team and the Senior Quiz team placed 2nd at Area and competed at State.

The Junior Chapter conducting team advanced to finals and placed 9th at State.


ROADRUNNER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

 Every month the students of the month at Rosita Valley Elementary are recognized with a certificate for their excellence!

Tuesday, December 7th, they also had a small get together for the Students of the Month to relish in their success.

SUMMER P-EBT DEPOSITED/AWARDED

 


33rd Annual Poteet Tournament Champions

Eagle Pass Winn Boys Basketball traveled to Poteet, TX December 2nd - December 4th for the 33rd Annual Poteet Invitational. 

The Mavericks brought back the Tournament Championship led by tournament MVP Angel Gomez and 1st Team All Tournament Point Guard Jesse "Chuy" Rodriguez. 

The Mavericks also had key contributions by defensive ace Cesar Juarez and sharp shooter Ryan Rodriguez. 

Sophomore sensation Jovan Jimenez led the Mavericks off the bench. 

The Mavericks beat the previously undefeated Lytle Pirates in the semi-finals 72-54 and won the championship versus the Pearsall Mavericks by a final score of 75-54.

EAGLE PASS FFA IS STATE BOUND

Congratulations to Eagle Pass FFA for competing with 8 teams at Area X LDE’s. 

EPISD is very proud of the 3 banners won and the 2 teams advancing to STATE! 

The teams will compete in state competition on December 3rd at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas

ATTENDANCE WINS BIG AT EPISD

Noe Hernandez, 6th grade student from Glass and his brother, Juan Fernando Juarez, Kennedy Kinder student, both had perfect attendance this school year and they were able to enjoy the benefits that perfect attendance receives!

The boys were able to attend a San Antonio Spurs game for FREE, thanks to EPISD's partnership with the San Antonio Spurs' Spurfect Attendance Program!

It was a great way to spend their holiday break!

 Thursday, November 18th, EPISD District Service Center hosted their annual Thanksgiving luncheon.

The meal was spectacular and the staff truly enjoyed the meal and the opportunity to gather together.
A special thanks to Superintendent Mijares and the EPISD Board of Trustees for another great event.

Migrant Director Named AMET Regional Director


 Eagle Pass ISD would like to take this time to congratulate Migrant Director, Mr. Timoteo Chaires, for being named Regional Director with AMET!

AMET, Association for Migrant Educators of Texas, is a non-profit organization that supports migrant educators of Texas to ensure that every migrant student in Texas has access to a quality education. AMET empowers individuals at the national, state, and local levels as they equip each child with the skills and resources necessary to be successful.

Mr. Chaires was nominated and selected as the Region 20 Regional Director, which allows him to give voice to not only our Eagle Pass ISD educators and students, but all of Region 20!

Congratulations Mr. Chaires on this amazing and well-deserved honor!
