EPISD Curbside Meals Week #2

EPISD would like to thank our amazing Food Service Department for a great 1st week of Curbside Meals. 
We encourage the community to come out again next week Monday - Friday to pick up curbside meals at our 10 locations. 
Meals will be offered from 9:30 am until supplies last.

EPISD REMOTE INSTRUCTION BEGINS

EPISD Remote Instruction and Digital Backpack is NOW available for parents and students on the following links below. 
All teachers will make contact no later than Tuesday, March 24th either by phone or electronically.
Should parents need any assistance, we encourage them to contact their child's teacher by teacher’s established electronic communication.

EPISD Kicks Off Curbside Meals Monday, March 23rd

Due to the contingency of COVID-19, Eagle Pass ISD Food Service Department in an effort to serve our community will offer Curbside Breakfast and Lunch at the following schools:
-EPJ
-MJH-
-WHS
-EPHS
-Rosita Valley Elementary
-Kirchner Elementary
-Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary
-Pete Gallego Elementary
-Liberty Elementary
-Mancha Elementary
This will be provided to all children 18 years or younger without charge. 
Both meals will be provided at the same time (9:30 am - 2:00 pm) and no identification is required to receive meals. 
Children must be present at the time of pick up.

EPISD TO OFFER REMOTE INSTRUCTION FOR ALL STUDENTS

Due to the rapidly evolving nature of COVID-19 and out of an abundance of caution, Eagle Pass ISD will be closing until further notice and begin providing remote instruction to all students. Parents, we encourage you all to begin, if you have not already done so, to plan for long term closures of schools.
In the meantime, beginning Monday, March 23rd we will offer curbside meals for our students for breakfast and lunch at designated locations around the district. For more information, please refer to the Health Advisory tab on the district website in the link below. This tab includes letters from Superintendent Samuel Mijares as well as pertinent information on COVID-19.

HEALTH TIPS YOUTUBE PLAYLIST

Eagle Pass ISD has created a playlist on YouTube that is filled with videos from the CDC and other educational websites that includes information on how to stay healthy and what exactly is COVID-19.
We will also additionally be posting tips on the district's Instagram story.

EPISD SPRING BREAK EXTENSION

Eagle Pass ISD will be extending their Spring Break to the week of March 16th  - 20th in the best interest of students and staff. 
Student and staff safety has always been our district's top priority and we are asking for the community's continued cooperation as more information becomes available. 
This includes refraining from traveling, washing your hands regularly, and avoid touching your face.

Food chain and food web

Wednesday, February 26, Mrs. Campos 8th grade class at Memorial Junior High worked on food webs and food chains to identify competition of biotic and abiotic resources. Students worked on small groups to create a food web connecting energy transfer. The students also did a bigger scale food web were they represented an organism on a forest ecosystem or a marine ecosystem. Great job Mavericks

On February 25th at Henry B. Gonzalez the 3rd grade students in Mrs. Apolinar's class learned about equivalent fractions. Students worked in an activity in cooperative groups to reinforce their learning. Way to go Bobcats!
