Hawks Try Tasty Seuss Treat

After reading Dr. Seuss' classic "The Cat in the Hat" for Dr. Seuss week, the Hawks put their creativity and taste buds to the test!
The students created delicious fruit kabobs made with strawberries, bananas, grapes, and marshmallows!

8th Graders Visit EPHS

Tuesday, February 27th and Wednesday, February 28th, Eagle Pass Junior High and Our Lady Of Refuge School 8th grade students paid Eagle Pass High School a visit to prepare them for next year. 
Eagle Pass High School counselors informed next year's freshmen with current information and programs offered at EPHS. 
Student Council members also escorted students around campus to familiarize them the campus. 
As the bright red cherry on these great days, Eagle Pass High School  Career and Technical Education Department hosted their annual CTE Career Day to provide insight in the array of paths that Eagle Pass High School has to offer.

After reading "Green Eggs and Ham" for Dr. Seuss week, the Hawks tried out this zany cuisine on Tuesday, February 27th.

Tigers are All Smiles

Wednesday, February 28th, Graves' Tiny Tigers in Mrs. Carrazco's 1st grade classroom were treated to an awesome presentation courtesy of Eagle Pass High School's H.O.S.A. students.
The Tigers learned everything necessary on how to keep a healthy smile.  
The students actively participated in their lesson and were eager to learn more about healthy teeth. 
Great job Eagles and keep on smiling Tigers!

EPHS Rings in Assistant Principal's Birthday



Wednesday, February 28th, Eagle Pass High School Science Department surprised their Assistant Principal, John Byrne, with a birthday celebration.
The morning was filled with delicious food, cake and appreciation!
Mr. Byrne works hard year round for his campus and on his special day, his staff wanted to make sure his birthday was celebrated.
EPHS Science Department is very appreciative of everything Mr. Byrne does and would like to take this time to wish him a happy birthday and thank him for all his does and continues to do daily.

Tuesday, February 20th, the 4th grade students in Mrs. Gomez' class at Benavides diligently worked on a project over the Alamo.
Students were responsible in gathering facts about the Alamo and creating projects that noted important dates and historical figures.

Lobos Honor Very Important Teacher

Wednesday, February 28th, EPISD Teacher of the Month for February 2018 Mr. Marcelo Negrete received his Very Important Teacher Parking sign.
Pete Gallego Elementary all gathered together to see the sign go up and applauded the moment!
The Lobos are extremely proud of Mr. Negrete and are so happy that his dedication to teacher was recognized.

Liberty Lady Eagle Division III Basketball

Liberty Elementary would like to congratulate their Division III Lady Eagle Basketball Team for their awesome season!
The girls ended the season with a record of 7 -1 and made it to the playoffs. 
The Eagles won their first playoff game on Tuesday, February 27th, with a final score of 29 -22.
Good luck in round 2 ladies, your whole school's behind you!

Rebels Spread Love for Science

Throughout the halls of Robert E. Lee Elementary, you will be sure to find some awesome scientific tidbits courtesy of Rebel 5th grade!
The 5th graders joined together to involve the entire student body with their 2-D project and displayed them in the school's busiest intersections.

Tigers Host Vaccine Clinic


Graves Elementary hosted a vaccine clinic for their 6th grade Tigers on Tuesday, February 27th in the campus library.
Tiger Nurse, Mrs. Beattie, prepared the event to perfection to be able to provide her students with an opportunity to receive all vaccines necessary for junior high. 
Graves would like to thank all district nurses that came out to help and give a special round of applause for their very own Mrs. Beattie.

Roadrunner McTeacher Night Success

Tuesday, February 27th, Rosita Valley Elementary hosted a McTeacher Night at McDonald's. 
The evening was a complete success and the entire Roadrunner staff gladly worked a shift.

Rebels Proudly Present Pillowcase Project

Thanks to a grant from the Walt Disney Company, the Red Cross is now taking the Pillowcase Project to children throughout the 24 county Gold Country Region.
Robert E. Lee Elementary is proud to have been selected as a pilot school in spearheading preparedness in case of emergencies. 
Tuesday, February 27th, Mayor Cantu, alongside, Parks and Rec Director Cuellar, were on campus to oversee the 3 steps students use to stay safe: Learn, Practice, and Share. 
Rebel 5th graders learned how to stay safe in an emergency and were empowered to take action by practicing preparedness.  
They were encouraged to share what they learned with family and friends, knowing that their information can help create a better prepared  community.   
Each student received a toolkit they can share with their families. 
The City of Eagle Pass will display the Robert E. Lee Pillowcase at City Hall.

Tigers Get Presidental

Tuesday, February 27th, the 1st graders at Graves Elementary ended their unit on United States presidents on a high note!
The Tigers used their skills to research their favorite president and create a project complete with six facts over the president and why they selected that person.
 Among the favorites were George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Barack Obama, Texas' own LBJ, and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Sheriff Department Visits Lobo Country

Pete Gallego Elementary would like to thank Maverick County Sheriff Department for making their rounds and visiting the school on Tuesday, February 27th.
These officers made the time to speak to the Lobos to reassure them that their job is to help and protect them during and after school hours.
Ms. Montes’ 4th grade students were even able to hold a good quick question and answer discussion with the patrolling officer.

I.B.C. Bank Presents to 2nd grade Miners

Monday, February 26th, I.B.C. Bank presented to Seco Mines 2nd grade students in the school library over Financial Literacy information.
The Miners were provided with lots of interesting information on the role of banks and their service to  our community at large.
Mrs. Moreno, Mrs. Villarreal, Mrs. Ortiz and students would like to say thank you to I.B.C. for sharing insight on the financial institution world!

WHS Guard Presents Show for Parents

Friday, February 23rd, CC Winn Guard showcased a small preview of their Winter Guard show to parents, staff, and administrators before traveling to Wagner High School for their second competition.
The show is still very much a work in progress, but the guests were able to enjoy a 4-minute preview of the tentatively titled “This was our love” show.
The show features a song by Tailor and has been choreographed by Winn Alums, Jaqueline Olivares and Javier Sanchez, Jr.
The Winn Guard is under the direction of Mr. Carlos Vela.

Seco Mines Lady Miner Basketball

Seco Mines Elementary Lady Miner Basketball team made it to playoffs, unfortunately their playoff journey ended much too soon as they fell short against Armando Cerna on Monday, February 26th. 
The Lady Miners would like to wish the Stallions good luck in their next playoff game and let them know that they are rooting for them!
Seco Mines would like to congratulate their girls on an amazing season and for having such tremendous sportsmanship.

The students worked together to solve problems on the Promethium as prep for the upcoming Benchmark Testing!

Monday, February 26th, Mrs. Salinas 2nd grade class at Graves Elementary studied the various types of clouds for their weather unit in Science. 
The Tigers worked their creativity and created cloud charts for cloud watching!
It has been a very hands on and fun experience for the Tigers!

Graves Elementary would like to congratulate their Lady Tigers Division III Basketball team! 
The girls made it to the playoffs and won their first game with a final score of 23-11.

EPISD Cosmetology Brings Home Skills USA Gold

Saturday, February 24th, a great group of Cosmetology students from Eagle Pass High School and CC Winn competed at the District 12 Skills USA Competition Leadership Skills at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The students definitely made their presence known, as they are now State Qualifiers bringing home medals galore!

Graves Elementary Box Top Winners


Graves Elementary held their second Box Top Fundraiser on Thursday, February 15th. 
Campus Principal, Mrs. Soto-Gonzalez & Librarian, Mrs. A. Libson would like to congratulate the winners with the most Box Tops for the 2nd round.
The lower levels winner was Mrs. P. Garcia's 1st grade class and the upper levels winner was Ms. A. Perez' class.
