Students in Mrs. I. Salinas' English II classes at WHS have been studying persuasive speeches as a part of their English II EOC prep. Students were put into groups of five and given different speeches to analyze such as Emma Gonzalez's anti-gun, Admiral William H. McRaven's "Make your Bed," and David McCullough Jr.'s "You Are Not Special."
They were then tasked with analyzing the speech for its purpose, tone, rhetorical appeals, figurative language, and defining quotes.
Each student took on a different task in the group.
Students presented their individual speeches to the class.
They ended with what they connected most with in their speeches.
The students were able to take away a little something from each speech.
Go Mavericks!
