WHS Pre-AP Chem Calculate Percent Yields

Pre-Ap Chemistry students at C.C. Winn High on November 13, 2019 determined the experimental yield on a chemical reaction and calculated percent yield.
The percent yield is a descriptor of a lab technique, in that the higher the yield, the better the technique.
In this lab, sodium carbonate was reacted with hydrochloric acid to produce water, sodium chloride and carbon dioxide gas.
The students in Mr. Laurence class required several materials to accomplish their experiment: a beaker, a ring stand, a watch glass, a thermometer, a triple-beam-balance, a striker, a ring clamp, a stirring rod and a bunsen burner.
In the lab the students recorded data- tare mass, gross mass, net mass - that made the difference when calculating percent yield.
