On Friday, January 31st, 1st graders at Ray H. Darr participated in an activity that helped them understand the concept of personal space. During Coach Mata's P.E., they walked around the play area holding a hula hoop around them avoiding a collision with another student's hula hoop. If they bumped into someone else, the designated police officers made them sit in their hula hoop for 10 seconds before they could continue playing. Not only does this activity keep them continually active, but it helps them be aware of others' personal space.
