On Monday, February 10, 2020, Mrs. Camarillo's Dual Credit English 1302 WHS students were assigned to create a metaphor describing women. The assignment was called, "What good is a metaphor if not to describe a woman?" This task was given after her classes read a short story titled "The Girl With Bangs" by Zadie Smith. This story is known for including metaphors which is where you compare two things without using the words "like" or "as". These students worked in groups of four to create their own metaphors using daily objects and include a drawing that represented their metaphor. Mrs. Camarillo has worked hard to prepare her students to have the ability to critically analyze stories and discover a deeper meaning within them. This assignment is preparing students to read and think critically and prepare for their next college level English course.
