On February 14th, AP Language and Composition students at CC Winn High School presented Valentine's Day cards they created after reading "Love Is A Fallacy". Max Shulman's short story "Love Is A Fallacy" recounts the efforts of a college student to educate his love interest, Polly, so she can be a fit wife, hostess, and mother. The education of Polly involves explaining the most common types of fallacies.
In an effort to strengthen writing and address fallacies being mistakenly used by students, Miss Cruz had students create 5 cards with at least one fallacy per card. Fallacies could not repeat and needed to be related to the assigned theme- Valentine's Day. Students presented cards and had peers guess the fallacies being used. There were many laughs and giggles as students read their fallacies to each other.
