Eagle Pass FFA Leadership Development Events Fall 2023 AREA Results

 On November 20, 2023, Eagle Pass FFA students competed in the Leadership development events at the AREA level. Eagle Pass FFA is proud to announce the following teams that advanced to compete at this higher level: 

• Senior Chapter Conducting: In this contest, teams conduct a mock chapter meeting to demonstrate knowledge of basic parliamentary law and the use of correct parliamentary procedures. They placed 4th out of 10 teams at Area.

• Team members are: Marichel Hernandez, Sophia Rodriguez, Alina Aza, Rylee Gloria, MariAngela Robles, and Armando De la Garza

• Quiz:  In this contest, students take an exam testing knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure and FFA Knowledge including history, facts, business structure, leadership, and programs. The Senior level competition tests the team members' understanding of the FFA, Agriculture Education, Current events, and parliamentary procedure. 

  

• Greenhand team consisted of Rylee Gloria, Areli Hernandez, Braxton Blanchard, and Jesus Soto

• Rylee Gloria placed 3rd high point individual

• Chapter Team consisted of Marichel Hernandez, Sophia Rodriguez, Alina Aza, Mariangela Robles, Jesus Mata, and Armando de la Garza

• Marichel Hernandez placed 9th  high point individual



• Agriculture Issues forum. In this contest students research and analyze a current agriculture issue, create a portfolio, and also develop and deliver a presentation that stresses both the pros and cons of their selected issue. They placed 3rd

• Team members were:  Anahi Molina, Jimena Molina, Isabella de la Garza, Lorelei Gonzalez, and JJ Ballesteros

EPHS FOOTBALL CELEBRATE END OF SEASON

 On Wednesday, November 8th, the Eagle Pass High School Football Booster Club treated their Eagles to a grand Thanksgiving Feast to seal the football season. 

The Eagles enjoyed a hearty meal and celebrated the seniors as they concluded their high school football journey.

WHS ATTENDS AND WINNS

The students in Mrs. Camarillo’s English 1301 2nd period class at CC Winn enjoyed pizza, drinks, and cupcakes on November 15th after winning the Perfect Attendance Challenge for the week of November 6th-10th.

EAGLE PASS FFA FALL LDE RESULTS

 

On November, 13, 2023, Eagle Pass FFA students competed in the Leadership development events at the district level. Eagle Pass FFA is proud to announce the following teams that competed at the district level:

They placed 3rd

• Team members were: Jacqueline Ramirez, Valentina Guardiola, Adrian Rocha, Jesus Tovar, and Daniel Campos

• Public Relations.  In this contest, a team of 4 FFA members develops and presents a 5-8 minute program to inform a specified target audience regarding the Texas FFA and what it represents. Placed 5th at District 

• Team members were: Ivan Roque, Fatima Flores, Erika Martinez, and Desirae Herrera

• FFA Broadcasting.  In this contest, a team of 3 members presents an informative radio program covering 1 or more agricultural subjects that is current in nature and local in content. 

• The freshmen team placed 6th and consisted of Areli Hernandez, Braxton Blanchard, and Jesus Soto

•  The senior team placed 3rd and consisted of Sierah Flores, Caitlyn Cardenas, Josh de Leon, and Mia Martinez

• Job Interview: For this competition, the member submits their resume, completes a job application for an agricultural position, and participates in an interview via telephone and in person.

• Austin Perez placed 4th at District 

• Creed speaking.  In this contest, a member presents the FFA creed from memory and answers questions about its meaning and purpose. Caitlyn Cardenas placed 6th in the senior category at District, and Areli Hernandez placed 4th.

• Spanish Creed speaking:  In this contest, a member presents the FFA creed from memory in Spanish and answers questions about its meaning and purpose, also in Spanish. Jacqueline Ramirez and Lazaro Elizondo placed 6th and 7th in the senior category at District

At Each level, only the 1st and 2nd place advance to the next level. 

EPHS HOSTS BLANKET DRIVE

Eagle Pass High School English II teacher, Ms. Dominguez, recently held a blanket drive to benefit The Buddy Foundation, a local non-profit animal rescue group. 

A big congratulations to her 5th period class for donating the most blankets. 

In total, more than 60 blankets were donated. 

The winning class will be rewarded with a surprise this week! 

The rescues will be sleeping warm this winter thanks to all of Ms.Dominguez' students who participated

EPHS GIVE WHS DRAMA STANDING OVATION

 On Thursday, November 9th, Eagle Pass High School students attended Disney Pixar's Coco presented by the C.C. Winn High School Drama Club. 

The students, under the direction of Mr. Adolfo Flores, gave an impressive performance. 

Eagle Pass High School congratulates the cast, crew members, and director for their successful presentation and wishes them luck this school year.

Longhorns Celebrate Dia de Muertos

Friday, November 3rd, Mrs. Zabdi Hernandez 3rd grade students at Juan Seguin celebrated Dia de Muertos by doing a writing on the topic, watching “Coco” and eating sweet bread!

The Interact Clubs hold Plastic Cap Competition

 The Interact Clubs from CC Winn High School and Eagle Pass High School; along with The Eagle Pass Rotary Club held a class competition on both campuses during 2nd period classes. The class that collected the most plastic caps received a pizza party given by The Rotary Club.

   The goal was to fill the metal heart located at Fort Duncan Park, once enough caps are collected they are taken to a recycling center in Mexico and the money collected is used to help pay medical needs for a child with cancer.

   There were over 75, 000 caps collected in the Campaign; Interact Sponsors Rebecca Mancha, Juan Deluna and the Eagle Pass Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who participated in this campaign.
