EPISD Migrant Department:November 6th College Session

The EPISD Migrant Department hosted an informational College Session for Eagle Pass High School migrant students on November 6, 2004.

Migratory students often arrive later in the school year due to seasonal farm work; therefore, a college session was held for our migrant students to be well informed about post-secondary opportunities.

The information was provided by a collection of representatives from various Universities including St. Edward’s University CAMP Director Sonia Briseno, Texas A&M International University CAMP Director Leonela Preciado, Sul Ross State University Retention Specialist and Career Services Coordinator Alejandra Valdez, and Sul Ross State University Financial Aid Assistant Director Lucio Garcia-Zuazua and Admissions Advisor Jose Alvardo.

From Southwest Texas College, Success Coach Claudia Valdez, Recruitment and Engagement Specialist Britney Martinez and Financial Aid Advisor Ana L. Oca.

The EPISD Migrant Department would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all who participated.  We are truly grateful to all the guest speakers for providing our students with a wealth of knowledge and invaluable information that will help them make informed decisions about college and their future.

SME LITERACY NIGHT - MINERS AROUND THE WORLD

TODAY'S EVENTS NOV 4

November is American Diabetes Month

November is National Diabetes Month, a time when communities across the country seek to bring attention to diabetes.

This year’s focus is on taking action to prevent diabetes health problems.

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. It affects about 38 million Americans, including adults and youth.

EPISD Spirit Ambassadors, Christian DeMasi and Aylin Rodriguez had students and staff alike pose with the official Diabetes Awareness Ribbon to remind them that taking charge of your health can help prevent future or present diabetic health problems.
