Bobcats Watch Green Grass Grow

Thursday, September 27th, Henry B. Gonzalez Mr. J. Torres, Head Custodian kept busy cutting the grass after all the heavy rains the community has experienced.

He explained to the Bobcats that it is important to have a fresh cut lawn because grass pales and turns yellow over time unless it's growing. 

Second, the key factor to keeping a growing lawn healthy is mowing it according to its growth.

The Bobcats were excited to lend a helping hand in beautifying the campus as they are on the pursuit for a 3rd Most Clean award! 

Way to go Bobcats!

Tigers Matter!

States of matter everywhere!

Friday, September 28th, the 1st grade Tigers at Graves Elementary put on their thinking cap during Science class.

The Tigers were taken through the different states of matter and then tasked with an activity where they had to label the different states.

Their work of art was brought to life with Cheerios!

Awesome job Tigers!

EPISD PD & Stallions Join Forces

Eagle Pass ISD Police Department has working with Cerna Elementary personnel and administration in creating a safe student drop-off and pick-up zone.  

Traffic was observed to be very heavy during the morning peak times.  

Assistant Chief Ynosencio stated, "I had received several calls from concerned parents and staff about the traffic at Cerna, we coordinated with the custodians and trained them to assist with the traffic and now we have the morning and afternoon traffic flowing at its best. A special thanks to Officer Rudy Valdez and K-9 Officer Robert Martinez who are always ready to take on the challenge. With their assistance this was made possible!"  

EPISD Police Department continues to ask for the cooperation of all parents and staff to obey all traffic laws and be observant of pedestrians.  

They would also like to thank Cerna Principal, Sandra Lopez and her staff thank you for the amazing gift basket they presented them on Friday, September 29th.

Friday, September 28th, Ray Darr Elementary received a certificate from Learning.com. 

Each fall, Learning.com recognizes top schools for "Excellence in Digital Literacy Education".

The recognition is based on the depth and breadth of digital literacy curriculum used over the previous school year. 

Learning.com's Senior Account Manager, Rachel Minton, stated,"It’s our sincere pleasure to inform you that your school was one of our top performers. In recognition of this achievement, we are pleased to award you with this official certificate for your school!"

Computer Lab Manager, Ms. L. Martinez, would like to thank all the teachers for making this possible. Students love learning about all the technology apps. 

They also love learning how to type. 

By the time they leave sixth grade students can type and some can do spreadsheets.

Mavericks Attend Library Orientation

Wednesday, September 26th, Mrs. Diaz' English I students had the opportunity to attend a Library Orientation that helped them learn the rules and procedures to check out books, use the resources online, and citation techniques. 

The students listened attentively as Mrs. Landin gave directions and guided them in the process of locating the different websites for research that the Eagle Pass Independent School District provides. 

These Freshmen Mavs will use the newly acquired knowledge soon when they have to begin their Historical Figure Projects at the end of the week. 

The Bulldog Boogie

Friday, September 29th, the 3rd grade students had their morning chalk full of weekly tests and quizzes. 

They definitely deserved a stress reliever and boy, did they every receive it!

During their PE class, DJ Ruiz popped up to help the Bulldogs dance all their worries away!

It was a great physical activity and the perfect way to let the stress float away.

Cougars Treated to Read Aloud

Friday, September 29th, Sam Houston's 3rd grade classes had a very special guest reader. 

Cougar IO, Mr. Flores, took time out of his schedule to read a story to with his little Cougars.
