RVLA Hosts Annual Pow Wow

Thursday November 17th, students and staff from Rosita Valley Literacy Academy participated in their annual Pow Wow. The day was filled with dancing and singing; the students even performed a Thanksgiving play! Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time!

Memorial Junior High Enjoys Family Style Thanksgiving Celebration

Friday November 18th, Memorial Junior High staff was treated to a Thanksgiving luncheon courtesy of their PTO.  The Mavericks quite enjoyed getting together with their MJH family and are thankful for having the opportunity to work at such a great campus!

Graves Causes Some Turkey Trouble

1st graders from Graves Elementary enjoyed Thanksgiving story, "Turkey Trouble", during their designated Library time. Tiger Librarian Mrs. Libson had a fun cut & paste headband activity for her students to go along with the reading. By the end of the activity the library was transformed and all the students were anxious to show off their wonderful art work and smile big for the camera!

Graves would like to wish everyone a happy and blessed Gobble Gobble day and they hope no one runs into any "Turkey Trouble!"

Kennedy Hall Prepares for Pow Wow

Prep for Kennedy Hall's Pow Wow parade is in full swing and the Early Childhood Autism Unit is ready to go! They crafted a fabulous Turkey Mobile decorated by teachers and peers in the Early Childhood Autism Classroom.

Memorial Junior High Surprises Principal

Memorial Junior High Ecology Club and Custodial staff surprised their Principal, Mrs. Sumpter, with beautiful flowers from their garden! It was a great to brighten her day and show her the fruits of their labor!

Pete Gallego Promotes Reading with McDonald's

In order to promote AR Reading, Ms. Montes' 4th grade class from Pete Gallego Elementary connected Reading to Social Studies and Writing in their "Disguised Turkey" project. Parents were asked to help their children disguise a turkey so that their turkeys would make it through Thanksgiving Day without being found and eaten! Students were also asked to write a description of their non-turkey to convince readers of their non-turkey status.

McDonald's Restaurant on Del Rio Blvd. allowed for these students "Disguised Turkeys" to be displayed on their location. Thank you McDonald's Restaurant for your continued support towards our amazing students!
