The Eagle Pass Police Department along with several other community and school officials gathered on the morning of December 15, to recognize a brave young boy from Early Childhood Center (ECC) named Matheew Hernandez.
EPISD and City Officials were invited to participate with the staff of ECC as they gave special recognition to Matheew Hernandez naming him "Hero for a Day."
This brave 5 year old saved his family from a fire that caused the family to lose their home and all personal belongings. Luckily for the Hernandez family, Matthew remembered his fire safety and prevention visit to our local EPFD and alarmed his family.
Because of his quick thinking he saved his parents, little sister and grandfather.
Yesterday Matheew was declared Honorary Mayor for a Day by Mayor Ramsey English Cantu.
