Teacher of the Month
The Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community. The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Mrs. Magdalena Chavez, of Seco Mines Elementary, has been selected as the “Teacher of the Month” for the month of January. Mrs. Chavez is a meticulous and dedicated 5th grade math teacher. She inspires students to begin with the end in mind and to set academic goals. Her students are proactive and take responsibility of their academics and behavior, setting a great example for other students at Seco Mines. As a fifth grade teacher, she truly is team leader. Mrs. Chavez works with her team to ensure that the needs of all students are met. She deciphers test results and generates targeted lessons that allow for her students to not only pass minimal math skills, but to master advanced concepts. Her dedication to her craft can be appreciated with her continuous exceeding test results, and respect from her peers, and students. Great teachers like Magdalena challenge, motivate, and inspire. It is those characteristics that have awarded her the title of Teacher of the Month.
