Monday, April 23rd, C.C. Winn began Earth Week!
The Maverick student body commemorated the first day of Earth Week by wearing gray to promote "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle".
We currently live in a world of excess and over consumption which leads to increased garbage and thus a greater problem than we could ever imagine.
C.C. Winn would like to offer the following tips to help with this problem:
1. REDUCE THE USE OF MATERIALS AND ENERGY
- Buy products with less packaging.
- Take a reusable bag with you shopping.
- Do without disposables
- Cut down on electricity use.
- Use less water
- Stop junk mail and paper billing
- Consider alternative transportation
- Take the stairs
2. REUSE A VARIETY OF GOODS
- Buy and donate used clothing.
- Purchase reusable products
- Save plastic and paper bags
- Turn old materials into art
3. GET INTO THE HABIT OF RECYCLING
- Shop for recycled products
- Sort your recyclable
- Take advantage of your local recycling center
- Recycle old electronics
- Compost your food and yard waste
