Mavericks taking on Tone

English II students in Mrs. Idalia Salinas' class at WHS were introduced to the use of tone in literary works.
Students learned that tone is the author's attitude towards his/her subject and is generally conveyed through the choice of words, or the viewpoint of a writer on a particular subject.
The tone can be formal, informal, serious, comic, sarcastic, sad, or cheerful, or it may be any other existing attitude.
Students choose from a list of tone words and they created a sentence strip with the word, definition, sentence, and an illustration.
Each student then presented their finished project to the class where they learned all the other tone words being used.
Students also gave feedback to the presenter as to whether the tone word created a positive, negative, or neutral feeling.
Students showed their creative side when completing their tone word project.
Go Mavericks!
