On Tuesday, October 6, 2019, UIL Academics Coordinator, Mr. Jose Flores, visited AP Language and Composition classes to promote an essay competition sponsored by The University Interscholastic League (UIL).
The University Interscholastic League will "sponsor two essay competitions that provide exciting opportunities for students to explore the contributions of historically underrepresented groups to the history and culture of Texas.
With a focus on original research and the use of primary sources, students are encouraged to look to their own communities in finding topics for their essays." (UIL Texas)
Mr. Flores encouraged all students to engage in outside research and offered guidance through the process.
Students that posed interest in the event(s) were invited to swing by and visit with Mr. Flores to receive detailed guidelines provided by UIL Texas.
