WHS has been driving the message and raising awareness on the importance of daily and consistent attendance at school.
In an effort to promote attendance, students in Miss Cruz' English II classes have been provided the opportunity to participate in weekly raffles based on their attendance. A
ny and all students that are present to class all week are able to participate in a weekly drawing for a surprise prize.
Every Monday, Miss Cruz checks the previous week's attendance and projects a random name picker on the board with the names of all those that had "perfect attendance" in her class the previous week.
Three students are selected and provided with a prize.
Students have been awarded items such as snacks, sunglasses, cell phone sticky wallets, stickers, and recently a student was awarded a portable charger.
These forms of extrinsic motivation have made students excited to see what the prizes will be and has encouraged them to show up to class.
