WHS Masks Identity

On January 31, students in Miss Cruz' English II classes at CC Winn High School, were tasked with creating masks. After reading Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem "We Wear The Mask", they thought about the masks they wear and created their own masks had to represent words that they felt described their persona to their peers and society. On the inside of their mask, students depicted things that they "mask" from society. Many students named, beliefs, sports, and even hobbies that they do not share with others. Students enjoyed the activity because they were able to help each other decorate the outside of their masks by providing adjectives that they felt described one another. This served as both an extended reading activity and a review on grammar.
