Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community. The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
May's Teacher of the Month is none other than LDC's, Mrs. Liliana Gutierrez. An eight-year veteran teacher, Mrs. Gutierrez has demonstrated passion for teaching and most importantly, the gift of patience. Mrs. Gutierrez is happily married and has 2 amazing children, who both attend UTSA. Her family always supports her long hours and extra time it takes to make activities for her students.
Mrs. Gutierrez has also overcome adversity in her life. In 2016, a mass was found in her right kidney and she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. She underwent surgery and 1/3 of her kidney was removed. She has been cancer free for two years!
Mrs. Gutierrez has always enjoyed teaching young children. Her love for education shines through when she works extremely hard with her students so they can achieve their goals. She works one on one with students until they are successful. As an educator, Mrs. Gutierrez has the patience to work with the students so that they learn to the best of their ability, and grow and mature in the process.
As the teaching profession becomes more and more demanding, Mrs. Gutierrez has proven herself to be a dependable, supportive early childhood expert whose positive attitude reflect her values and model a culture of excellence in the workplace. In fact, during this CO-VID 19 crisis Mrs. Gutierrez volunteered to write lesson plans for her grade level. She always places professionalism and dedication to the profession above all else.
For all these reasons and more, Mrs. Liliana Gutierrez is Teacher of the Month.
A segment will appear on iVision throughout the month of June detailing many more accomplishments of Mrs. Gutierrez. This month she will also appear on community media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout June 2020.
