Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community. The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.October's Teacher of the Month is none other than the Language Development Center's, Mrs. Zully Salazar. Mrs. Salazar is an amazing kindergarten teacher whose passion for teaching is evident in the way she makes learning fun and positive for students. A visit to her classroom will find an organized, peaceful classroom with a quiet buzz of activity. Her 34 years of experience enable her to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Mrs. Salazar is part-mom and part educator to all of her bilingual students. Her calm and gentle demeanor goes a long way wiht her students, and especially her parents. Mrs. Salazar enjoys researching and learning about how technology can enhance her teaching. She develops numerous activities and flipcharts that motivate and challenge her students to learn.
In previous years, Mrs. Salazar hosted a very successful workshop in her classroom to train parents on how to help their children become better readers. The parents were very appreciative of Mrs. Salazar's efforts as they highlighted her desire to make them an active part of their child's education and classroom.
Mrs. Salazar is a devoted wife and proud mother of two successful young men. Her family is key to her success in the classroom as they support her long hours and extra time she invests in creating activities for her students. They understand that it makes her happy to provide challenging and quality instruction for all her students. For all these reasons and more, Mrs. Zully Salazar is Teacher of the Month.
