2021 Graduation Tips and Procedures

TIP 1:

EPISD SAC gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. With nearly 500 seniors graduating from both high schools, traffic can be overwhelming which is why we highly recommend for families and graduates to car pool. We also suggest that guests use the alternative route to the Student Activities Center.

Taking Loop 480 to 277 will help divide the traffic in front of the Student Activity Center and aid the process of allowing vehicles to enter and exit the parking lot.

Tip 2:

Dress code! All students participating in graduation ceremonies must adhere to the school's dress code policy. This includes that men must be freshly shaven and without piercings. Any student who does not comply will not be able to participate. This includes markings, messages, or labels on the cap or gown. And finally, sorry ladies, but high heels are not allowed on the field! Girls can only wear flat-foot shoes.

Tip 3:

Graduates are suggested to arrive no later than 7:00 pm and they will enter through a designated sidewalk on the home or visitor side. They will remain distanced on the line and will have their cap and gown on their left arm. They will be asked to walk through a metal detector to check for prohibited items. Once students are cleared, they will be given an identification card and asked to report to their assigned seat. There will also be a water station where students are encouraged to get water as it will be hot while waiting for the ceremony. It will not be necessary for the student to dress in a full cap and gown until 7:30 p.m. for comfort and health purposes. Each student is expected to behave appropriately and act respectfully towards all people at  the ceremony. If the behavior becomes a problem, the student will be dismissed from the ceremony and will have to pick up their diploma the next business day at their home campus.

Tip 4:

Certain items are not allowed on the field! The graduate cannot bring backpacks, purses, sacks or bags of any kind. Foreign objects such as beach balls, balloons, air horns, fireworks, etc. are not allowed. If you are caught with a controlled substance or under the influence, you will be removed! Also, for guests, ICE CHESTS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the premises! Water will be sold at both the home and visitor concession stands.

Tip 5:

When it is your turn to line up to receive your diploma, only 3 students will be allowed on the ramp to the stage at a time. As you walk up the ramp to the stage, you will hand over your identification card to the designated staff member and will only walk on stage when you hear your name. Then, you will walk to your designated spot on stage to take your photo with your diploma. You will then walk down the center ramp and return to your seat immediately after the photo.

Tip 6:

This year, photos taken of the graduate receiving their diploma will be free to download off the district’s website. You will go to https://episd.smugmug.com/ and then click on either the EPHS Graduation or WHS Graduation album. Once you click on the album, you will be able to scroll and look through all the photos that were taken at graduation. When you find the photo(s) you would like to download, you will click on it and then click the download icon to receive your free photo(s).

Tip 7:

The last bit of information is for inclement weather. If it rains on graduation day, CC Winn High School’s Ceremony will move to Saturday, June 12th at 10:00 am and Eagle Pass High School Ceremony will move to Sunday, June 13th at 10:00 am. So, if it's raining on your assigned graduation day, make sure to tune in to your local radio station, check EPISD social media accounts, or call your campus for more details. If the rain continues on your rescheduled date, the ceremony will be canceled and you can pick up your diploma the next business day at your respective campus.

Graduation is an important time in all of a graduate's and if we follow all of these tips and procedures, the class of 2021 graduation is sure to be one for the record books!
