Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered
with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month
program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our
community. The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten,
elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
May's Teacher of the Month is none other than Seco Mines
Elementary School's Mrs. Lourdes Valadez. Mrs. Valadez has been teaching 4th
grade at Seco Mines Elementary for almost 9 years and the campus has considered
themselves lucky to know her personally and as an educator. Mrs. Valadez is
able to see what each student brings to their leaning and her entire teaching
approach involves using the students' unique strengths to help them overcome
their struggles. She is in constant communication with parents, so they can all
work together to meet the students' needs. Mrs. Valadez has strong academic
expectations and shows her students every day that she believes they can
succeed.
Mrs. Valadez is gifted, especially as a writing teacher and
because of these skills she is able to shape and form excellent writers! She is
patient and always takes the time to listen to parents' concerns about their
children. Parents and students trust and love her! She is a leader among her
colleagues and makes herself available to discuss ideas. She is always
supportive and full of gentle advice that helps her peers and students alike.
She also loves to participate in extra-curricular activities such as UIL,
Cheer, and is always willing to work after-school tutorials to help those that
need her. For all these reasons and more, Mrs. Lourdes Valadez is Teacher
of the Month.
