G/T Science & Technology Summer Program Days 4-5
3rd Grade: "LEGO BOOST- Day 1"
LEGO® BOOST lets students create models with motors and sensors, and then bring their creations to life through simple, icon-based coding commands. Students use the iPad app to create and code multifunctional models.
3rd Grade: "Homemade Butter & Pancakes"
Students learned that when the cream is shaken, the fat molecules in the cream leave their normal position and clump together. After a while, all of the fat molecules cling together, forming a lump of butter and leaving the buttermilk behind.
4th Grade: "LEGO MINDSTORM EV3"
Students combined LEGO Technic building elements, powerful hardware, and Python programming. The EV3 Intelligent Brick, motors, and sensors let students analyze and apply real data, as they design and build advanced and diverse robotics inventions.
5th Grade: "Hydraulic Boxes"
Students are building a box with a lid that can be raised and lowered with a simple hydraulic system.
6th Grade: "Drones & Game Coding"
Students coded their drones to fly over and under obstacles using the Tynker app. Students also started coding their own games on code.org.
