Congratulations to Mr. Marcelo Negrete: February Teacher of the Month

The Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community.  The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Mr. Marcelo Negrete's teaching performance confirms the talent and dedication that distinguishes him as one of the finest teachers at Pete Gallego and has earned him the title of Teacher of the Month.
Mr. Negrete demonstrates an ability to incorporate Science into Reading and Writing by linking his knowledge and skills to student learning experiences. His teaching method focuses on interactive lesson activities that require students' deeper learning and sharing of ideas in order to make meaningful connections. This method allows him to build an understanding of his students and create a positive classroom relationship. He not only monitors his students in specific groups and the class as a whole, but provides individual support and guidance. His teaching strategies reflect his love of Science as he uses intelligence, creativity, and passion to model and encourage his students to become active participants and take take responsibility in their learning.
Mr. Negrete has excellent rapport with his students, parents, and staff. This is observed through his daily interactions and respect that he has earned from his colleagues. Mr. Negrete is serious and determined when it comes to making his students successful and he conveys these high expectations! He holds himself accountable to high standards of performance and frequently seeks self-improvement by reflecting on his own practices and committing to lifelong learning by pursuing collegial support and professional development.
Mr. Negrete's ultimate goal is to make a difference in the lives of his students, his campus, and community by working as a part of a team and sharing his knowledge and skills whenever and wherever he can!
