Bright lights, music, and laughter run down Main Street as family and friends gather to enjoy a fun filled night with warm hot chocolate and some savory pan dulce.
On the historic day of December 20th, C.C. Winn High School Student Council hosted their 8th annual Christmas on Main Street in partnership with the City of Eagle Pass.
The annual event kicked off with a bang as crowds of ongoing citizens began to pour into Main Street to enjoy the various crafts, booths, and food vendors that were displayed.
Various performers entertained the crowd while kids had the opportunity to enjoy the fun filled craft tables which included; slime, face painting, coloring, and several other hands on crafts.
Christmas on Main Street has come a long way since it first started in 2011.
From 200 people to 5,000 attending throughout the year, this event grows more and more every year and never disappoints. We've had the opportunity and wonderful collaboration with the city to continue embarking new heights for this event. It is with their contribution and teamwork that we are able to make this night a success.
"It has been an honor working along side fellow friends, members, and adults to make this magical event come to life," Winn Student Council President, Samantha Cardenas said, "I look forward to being apart of such a family friendly event and I can't wait to start working on next years plan. I'm more than sure it will be one to remember."
This annual event has helped showcase the local talent in Eagle Pass, ranging from young student groups from around the district to local artists. The opportunity to perform continues to grow, allowing the community to expand their reach in being known to letting those shine on stage.
This year, we had the chance to continue our Teleton Navideno, which will help to aid the less fortunate thanks to the generous donations made by the community.
Such an exciting and busy event wouldn't be possible without the guidance and hard work put in by the C.C. Winn Student Council sponsor, Dionni Olivares-Wueste. "I am blessed to contribute to this event every year, I was lucky to be apart of such an impactful collaboration from the start," Mrs. Olivares-Wueste said. "This event keeps growing even more year after year. For it is with the help of the many volunteers and all those who attended to allow such an amazing night to happen."
