Tiger Earth Day Pledge

Tuesday, April 23rd, Mrs. Camarillo's 1st grade class at Graves worked on a Earth Day Promise writing assignment. 
The Tigers each made a pledge to save their environment and Earth.

EPHS Counselors Host Chick-fil-A Spirit Night

Eagle Pass High School Counseling Department invites the community to come and spend Tuesday evening, April 30th, with them at their Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A.

EPHS Dives Into Millennial Era

Mr. Ramiro Martinez' U.S. History class at Eagle Pass High School covered the most recent era in United States History Tuesday, April 30th.  
The Eagles discussed Millennial America visited topics such as 9-11, Barrack Obama and the rise of social media.

Liberty Hits the Terrain

Saturday, April 27th, Team Mudley Crew consisting of  Liberty Elementary students, Aiden Rivera, Felicity Rivera, Breaux Alfaro, and Naomi Perez; along with teacher, Mr. Arturo Gonzalez, represented Liberty Elementary at the Terrain Race in Floresville, Texas. 
Team Mudley crew conquered all the obstacles while running through mud and having a great time. 

Miners Reach AR Goal

Things are poppin' in Miner Country!
Wednesday, April 17th, Seco Mines rewarded the students who reached their AR Reading Level Achievement with a tasty bag of popcorn and slice of pizza.
Students were able to enjoy the snack with their friends, teachers, and Coach Roman, and Counselor Mr. Rocha.

RVLA Field Day Winners

Tuesday, April 30th, RVLA Coach Garza announced the winners for the RVLA Field Day that was held on April 11th & 12th.
Students, staff & parents all joined in, participating  in the awesome events Coach Garza has worked so hard for preparing the students for all year through.

Tuesday, April 30th, Graves Elementary was filled with the melodic sounds of learning!
As a way to kick off their letter sounds, Mrs. Camarillo's 1st grade class was asked to sort the "y" sound in playful way!

Bobcats Celebrate Dia Del Nino

Tuesday, April 30th was Dia Del Nino in Mexico.
Dia Del Nino originated in Mexico in 1925.
This day usually consists of special activities for children in parks and sports centers. 
Sometimes, the children will be given presents by their families.
Henry B. Gonzalez PTO joined in the celebration and gave all students a tasty bag of popcorn in honor of this great celebration!
The students loved this surprise!

Miners Lend Helping Hand

Thursday, April 18th, Seco Mines Student Council volunteered at the City of Eagle Pass' Loving Hearts Softball Game. 
The group joined up with EPJ Student Council to cheer and dance with all the competitors. 
The Miners  would like to thank the City of Eagle Pass and Mr. Juan Cuellar for the invitation. 

Miners Embody Citizenship

Thursday, April 17th, Seco Mines Elementary Counselor, Mr. Rocha distributed the 3rd 9 weeks Most Improved Students and Citizenship Awards.
The Miners were given certificates for a job well done!

Miners Reap Rewards

Thursday, April 17th, Seco Mines excitedly handed out certificates and bumper stickers for their Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance students.
The students take great pride in their work and it brought great joy to Miner Administration to see their happy faces.
Students also received coupons for a free Peter Piper kids' meal and ribbons.

The Miners are recognized for their dedication, academic effort, and attendance.

Bobcats Prep for STAAR

Tuesday, April 30th, Mrs. Apolinar's 3rd class only had STAAR Math review on their mind!
Mrs. Apolinar had her students work in cooperative groups to finish their review packet.

Tigers Prep for STAAR

Monday, April 29th, Mrs. Garcia at Graves utilized small group intervention.
Small group intervention gives students more of the teacher's focused attention and a chance to ask specific questions about what they learned.
Mrs. Garcia was able to focus on her 4th grade students' comprehension of STAAR concepts.

EPHS Hosts Campaign

Tuesday, April 30th, Eagle Pass High School's Dual Credit Texas Government students put the finishing touches on their campaigns.  
Students were tasked with creating platforms, campaign t-shirts and tri-folds to attract voters to their individual campaigns.

EPHS Plate Sale

Tuesday, April 30th, Eagle Pass High School Life Skills hosted a hamburger plate sale.
The Eagles would like to thank everyone who helped make this plate sale a smashing success!
They are especially grateful for Administration for allowing to host the sale on campus.

EPHS Present STAAR Wars

Eagle Pass High School would like to remind their students about the upcoming STAAR EOC Academy that will be held on campus Saturday, May 4th.
Classes will be given in Algebra I, Biology, and US History in preparation for the exams the next week.

EPHS has a Theory

Tuesday, April 30th, Eagle Pass High students in Mr. Heriberto Tobias' Art classes put the finishing touches on their recent project. 
The students were eager to finish their color theory projects.
 In the visual arts, color theory or color theory is a body of practical guidance to color mixing and the visual effects of a specific color combination. 
There are also definitions of colors based on the color wheel: primary color, secondary color, and tertiary color.

Tigers Hit the Library

Tuesday, April 30th, Mr. G. Gonzalez and Mrs. McBride's 6th grade classes hit the library for some quality reading time.
The 6th graders decided that some silent reading and new AR books would be the best remedy for testing blues.

Mastery of all subjects is very important at Graves Elementary and the Tigers are working hard to do just that!

Tuesday, April 30th, Mrs. Ibarra's 1st grade class at Graves created their very own families.
The students were tasked with working on their math fact family house!
It was a great way for the students to creatively review their concepts!

Graves April Students of the Month

Every month, Graves Elementary teachers select Student of the Month recipients based on their good character trait, efforts and hard working ethics.
Students are able to make "About Me" projects to highlight their talents that led them to being named Student of the Month.

Tigers Rock Around the Clock

Tuesday, April 30th, Mrs. Trevino's 2nd grade class at Graves continued their discovery of time.
To dive closer in how to tell time, each student created their very own paper clock.
They made sure to include all the numbers and the hour and minutes hands.

Tigers Extend Earth Week

Tuesday, April 30th, Mrs. Ibarra's 1st grade class at Graves extended their lesson on the 3 Rs.
The students were challenged to put what they learned during EPISD Earth Week to the test!
They had to successfully match what can be recycled and what classification it falls under.

EPHS' Cookie Crumbles

Students in Ms. Byrne’s Chemistry class recently learned how to calculate molar conversions.
Monday, April 30th, the students put their knowledge to the test when they competed in the Chemistry Cookie Challenge! 
Students were given recipes for various cookies in moles. 
They had to convert the moles to grams then convert those grams into proper baking measurements such as cups, ounces, or tablespoons. 
For extra credit, the students used the cookie recipe they converted and baked those cookies from scratch! 
This was an excellent way for students to see that even the smallest ingredient makes a big difference!

Miners Host Pasta Party

Seco Mines' 4th grade students finished reading Sharon Creech's "Granny Torrelli Makes Soup".
The novel follows friends Bailey and Rosie listening to life lessons from Granny Torrelli.
Tuesday, April 30th, the Miners culminated this activity and celebrated with a tasty pasta party!

Miners Wish Lady Eagle Softball Luck

The students and staff of Seco Mines Elementary would like to wish the Lady Eagles Softball Team the best of Luck in their second round of playoffs beginning Friday, May 3rd. 
The Lady Eagles have two former Miners on their team, Lashay Reyes and Alexandra Martinez, who serve as terrific role models!
The Miners would also like to wish Miner and EPHS Coach Reyes the best of luck!

Tigers Hit Pennies for Patients Milestone

Graves Elementary Student Council would like to thank students, parents and staff who came together for this year's Pennies for Patients.
Friday, April 26th, Graves Elementary was able to donate $1,106.69 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society making their running total donations since 2005 $11,765.70! 
Once again, Tigers have proven that teamwork makes the dream work!

Angels Fly into Tiger Country

Graves Elementary welcomed Eagle Pass High School's National Honor Society "Guiding Angels" once again on Tuesday, April 16th. 
Tiger Principal, Mrs Soto Gonzales served  breakfast for all the NHS students as a small token of their appreciation.
Graves is honored to have these group of exceptional students sharing valuable lessons with their 6th graders.

Tuesday, April 23rd, Ms. Y. Ferrer at Graves Elementary rewarded her top 3rd grade students!
Ms. Ferrer surprised her top AR readers with a Wimpy Kids book!
The students were super excited to have a copy of their very own to enjoy.

Tiger Read Aloud

Tuesday, April 30th, the students in Mrs. Carazco's 4th grade class at Graves Elementary were all ears as their teacher did her read aloud for the morning. 
After their read aloud, the Tigers eagerly went to AR test over the book for their daily AR points.

Tigers Discover 3 Rs

Tuesday, April 23rd, Mrs. Aguado's 4th grade class at Graves started their week with the 3 Rs!
The Tigers learned that the 3 Rs stand for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
The class created a recycling agamograph and recycled their water bottles  from lunch.

Tigers Prep for STAAR

Tuesday, April 30th, Mrs. Benavides' 3rd grade class at Graves was ready to conquer STAAR!
The Tigers have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming STAAR exam and they use every opportunity to develop their skills.
The students utilized their weekly test as a practice STAAR exam and were in total test mode!

Tigers Hit Imagine Math Milestone

Congratulations goes out to Ms. Perez' 4th grade class at Graves for being the 1st to reach their Imagine Math Goal three times.
The way the classroom goal is achieved is that the students donate the points they have earn by the 1000s and once the class reaches 600,000 points the goal is awarded.
Classes usually only earn 2 classroom goals a year and Ms. Perez' class tackled this feat incredibly.
The class met the goal on Wednesday, April 17th.
Great job Tigers!

Friday, April 26th, the 1st grade classes at Henry B. Gonzalez were ready for some rest and relaxation after a long week of ITBS testing.
The Bobcats were able to enjoy extended recess with Bobcat Counselor Mr. Zamora.

Bulldogs Host Career Day

Wednesday, April 17th, Benavides Elementary invited various professionals to their school to inform their students on different career options.
The Bulldogs were given an opportunity to meet with lawyers, medical professionals, police officers, and many more in their quest for knowledge!

Miners Scream for Ice Cream

Friday, April 26th, Mrs. Gonzalez' 1st grade class at Seco Mines cooled down with some tasty ice cream sandwiches. 

After a long week of ITBS testing, Mrs Gonzalez treated her students to an afternoon snack.

WHS Celebrates Earth Day

As a part of celebrating Earth Week, Mrs. Idalia Salinas’ English II classes at Winn planted seeds using biodegradable pots on Friday, April 26th. 
The students selected from fruit, vegetable or flower seeds. 
Students used garden soil then watered their new plants. 
Students learned how often to water their plants and to make sure to have the pots by sunlight. The seeds will germinate between 7-14 days. 
Once the plants grow, they will be able to plant the whole pot in the ground because of the biodegradable pots. Learning that they need to plant one trillion trees to combat climate change, the students planted two to three seeds per pot. 
The students enjoyed the activity and learned so much more about their planet and how to help clean their environment.

Bobcats Climb the Food Chain

Monday, April 29th, Mrs. Mauricio's 3rd grade class at Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary took on the food chain.
A food chain is a linear network of links in a food web starting from producer organisms and ending at apex predator species, detritivores, or decomposer species.
The Bobcats were tasked with creating a chain that highlighted their favorite animal.
Way to go Bobcats!

Miners Hit the Great Outdoors

Friday, April 26th, Seco Mines' PE Department kicked off their day by going outside for their class. 
The students were able to hula hoop or play Frisbee!
It was a great way to get the blood flowing and their heart pumping!
