CC Winn band competed at the Area H marching competition this past Saturday Oct. 26, 2019.
The competition was held at D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse, Tx.
The Winn band needed to receive a 1st Division at their UIL marching competition in order to compete at the Area H competition.
The band received a Sweepstakes award at the UIL Marching Competition which was held the week prior on Oct. 19, 2019.
The CC Winn Band competed in Area H prelims at 11am October 26th for a chance to advance on to Finals later that evening.
The students represented CC Winn HS, EPISD, and our Eagle Pass community with great pride and humility by having their best performance of the year up to that point.
Judges choose the top 10 bands to advance to Area Finals.
The student's hard work paid off when CC Winn was chosen as one of the top finalist to advance.
Students, staff, and supporting community broke out into cheers when CC Winn was announced as a finalist.
This was a huge accomplishment because Area H has the returning State Champions (Cedar Park HS) along with 2 state finalist.
One Adjudicator gave the CC Winn band a better score in music than the last year's state champion along with the 2 state finalist bands in Area Prelims.
This alone gives the program hope and fuel for the future.
The CC Winn band drew for the 7th performance slot which was to perform at 8:15pm.
Students peaked in their final performance by having their best performance of the year.
CC Winn came out in 6th place and missed going to State by 2 bands.
This is one of the program's biggest accomplishments to date.

A special thanks go out to Mr. Samuel Mijares and all of his administration for their continued support of Fine Arts in EPISD.
It is through their vision and support that they are able to do what they do to represent the school, school district, and our community with humility and a competitive drive.
WHS will continue to work hard to make everyone proud.
Mr Rodriguez would also like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate CC Winn's music dept.: Mr. Alejo Garza Jr., Mr. Roberto Rodriguez, Mr. Jose Raul Perez, Mr. John Munoz, Mr. Jorge Vargas, Mrs. Alva-Vero Rodriguez, Miss Stephanie Trevino, and Secretary Mrs. Anna Martinez for all of their hard work and dedication to the CC Winn Maverick Band.
