Mavericks taking on Banned Books

On January 13, 2020, as a final project to end their semester, C.C. Winn students in Mrs. Idalia Salinas' PreAP English II classes chose a book that had been banned for various reasons. Some of the novels the students chose were To Kill a Mockingbird, The Outsiders, The Great Gatsby, and Thirteen Reasons Why. Students were in groups of three and created a display that showcased the novel. Students researched the author's biography, a summary of the novel, what exactly made the novel controversial, and the backlash the novel caused in society. After completing the research, students then gave their opinions on whether the novel should have been banned. Go Mavericks!
