On Monday, January 13th, the Maverick Nation welcomed a new student teacher to WHS. Mrs. Martha Mendoza is currently under the direction of Mr. Vela. She will be assigned to observe and eventually assist in his Spanish classes. She is currently studying secondary education at Sul Ross State University. Although graduating in May, she admits that it felt like she would never get her diploma. "As a mother, I could only be a part time student. It was difficult. I encourage all students to go out and get their education. I never thought that I would get here. If I could, anyone can."
