Winn CTE Days

February is Career and Technical Education month, and C.C. Winn High School CTE Department showcased its programs over the course of an amazing three-day Career Fair. Not only did the fair highlight the many opportunities available through the various CTE programs, but the Career Fair also allowed students to meet with different employers who can offer guidance in the industry’s most in-demand fields that align with CTE programs of study.

In conjunction with the Career Fair, CCWHS counselors conducted sessions for students in which they discussed pre-registration, credits, and programs of study. Incoming freshmen were given a tour of the campus and also visited the Career Fair. By attending the CTE Career Fair, eighth-grade students were able to become acquainted with all the options that are available to them through CTE. The CTE Department and the Texas Workforce joined forces on Day 3 of our event to provide the Junior class with immediate employment opportunities. “Hiring Day” was a huge hit!

Thank you to the Texas Workforce Board and to all federal, state, and local employers for their role in the success of our Career Fair.

Special recognition to our EPISD Board, Superintendent Mr. Samuel Mijares, Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Mr. John Cox, Executive Director for Instructional Services Mr. David Camarillo, CTE Director Ms. Ana Laura Castillon, Assistant Director Mr. William “Billy” Davis, C.C Winn Principal Mr. Jesus Diaz-Wever, and all administration for their unconditional support.

This event came to fruition through the hard work of CCWHS CTE Department Head Mrs. Martha Hernandez, Head Counselor Mrs. Marilu Uriegas, and all the amazing CTE teachers and counselors from C.C. Win

n High School.

EPISD TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOL WEEK FEB 27 - MAR 3

WHS Celebrates TDS Tuesday

 C. C. Winn High School celebrated "TDS Tuesday" on February 21st by bringing in the "BIG RIG" to Eagle Pass for the first time!

Teens in the Driver Seat State Advisory Board Committee Chairperson, Sarai Rocha, wanted her peers to experience a truck driver's point of view from behind the wheel.

Maverick students were invited to visit the "big rig" at the staircase by the student parking lot during all three lunch periods to learn about 18-wheeler driving safety.

They received pamphlets, pencils, stickers and a wealth of information about trucks and their blind spots and break speeds.

The best part was that everyone was allowed to climb up into the 18-wheeler and see for themselves what a car looks like in their side mirrors in the lane right next to them. (NOT TO MENTION WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO PULL/HONK THE HORN!)
Students who sat through the demonstration were then entered into a raffle for a chance to win up to four $25 gift cards!

You can't put a price on safe driving education!
