The competition included four rounds of preliminaries in which the sophomore team went 3-1. The top four teams were selected to advance to finals; it should be noted that three of the teams were 4-0, and Gonzalez - Turrubiate were ranked over the teams with individual speaker points. They won their semi-final rounds and advanced to the final round against a team from Mason High School. They lost that round and placed second. This was only Gonzalez -Turrubiate's second tournament on the topic Economic Engagement with Latin America.
