The 2015-2016 EPISD Special Olympic
Games were held at the Student Activity Center (SAC) on March 8, at the Cozel
Foster Stadium at 9 a.m. Athletes are represented from the various schools within the EPISD school
district, including elementary, junior high and high school level. While a majority of the Special Olympics track-and-field events are
similar to traditional ones, there are some adjustments made for these athletes
as well as some different events. These special
athletes love to participate and have fun!
The
annual event utilizes hundreds of volunteers. Special education staff is
responsible for much of the success of the day. The event is coordinated by Ms.
Elizabeth Torres, Special Education Director.
