March Teacher of the Month - Rosa Ochoa, of Sam Houston Elementary

The Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community.  The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Mrs. Rosa Ochoa, of Sam Houston Elementary, has been selected as the “Teacher of the Month” for March 2016.  Mrs. Ochoa is an exemplary educator for many reasons.  The minute you walk into her classroom you sense that she has created an environment that is engaging, charming, effective, vibrant, and designed with high expectations for all students. Her 4th grade students respond to her and look up to her for guidance, leadership, wisdom, and knowledge.  She blends her delivery of instruction with a combination of high expectation, technology, real world applications, laughter, collaboration, and so much more.  Her teaching strategy ensures that each student is cared for and that each of them reach their maximum potential. Mrs. Ochoa has an infectious laugh and positive outlook that is transmitted to staff and students alike.  She demonstrates her leadership skills as a grade-level chair by creating strong professional working relationships that promote synergy and collaboration.  She creates opportunities for her team to develop ideas and to find solutions that will target student achievement and progress.  She volunteers her time to campus-wide events, initiatives, team building, and therefore, she channels her energy to the overall strength and bond that has developed at Sam Houston Elementary.  It is because of all these reasons Mrs. Ochoa of Sam Houston Elementary, is the “Teacher of the Month” for March 2016.

A segment will appear on iVision throughout the month of March detailing many more accomplishments of Mrs. Ochoa.  This month she will also appear on community media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout March 2016.
A teacher will be selected each month through June 2016 for a total of nine (9) honorees.  The “Teacher of the Month” will be chosen based on educational achievements in the classroom, community contributions and innovative programs and techniques used by the teacher. The “Teacher of the Month” will receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured on iVision, local media news, news publications and radio broadcasting.
